• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Should it take 4 months to fix my Spyder?

No it should not take that long and I would be making some noise if I were you too. I'm glad to hear Carlo is aware of your situation, he's a good man to be on the case.

You are handling this very well and do not come off as a :spyder2: hater. I would recommend taking the :spyder2: to a different dealer. You have given them more than enough time. For them to stick it in the corner somewhere and let it collect dust because it is a "pain" to work on--is so wrong.

You would think that your machine would be a priority to fix so that they can get you satisfied, and the bike out of their shop.

:agree: They should be on this one if for no other reason, than to prove that they're not quite as dumb as they appear to be!

My 2011 RT-S has been with the dealer for over four months! This does not include the previous three times it has been with the same dealer for the same thing...... limp mode home and no power steering. The steering actually went out while I was taking an off ramp and luckily I was able to control it before going into on coming traffic. BRP has even had their "techs" assist with the repairs and to date nobody has been able to fix it. :banghead: The only thing I hear from the dealer is " I dont know what is wrong with it" & " I just want to put this Spyder back in the crate and ship it back to Canada" ....... I guess I will just dust off my Suzuki cause I just want to ryde.

We have delt with this issue a few times now and without getting into boring detail and going on and on have your tech call us and talk to Randy. Randy Skeen is a true master on Spyders and Im sure he could help trouble shoot this. We would be happy to help out in any way, four months in the shop tells me the tech is over his head and needs to talk to someone in the field.BRP tech line can be helpfull but keep in mind they are only getting info from the dealer network, its the good techs in the field that are critical so we would really be happy to help you.

You get the dealer prize for today...:firstplace::bowdown:

Fer me, I would insist that your dealer, at his expense, transport the Spyder to a competent mechanic of your choice and argue in small claims.

BRP says they will give me my money back but........

That is outrageous !!! One month would be more then enough to make my blood boil and demand my money back, not a new bike. If they can't fix it then they didn't build it right!! What guaranty that the next one would not be the same! Good Luck as it seems so many of us have not had your issues and Luck must have a lot to do with it!

BRP hasnt given me the total amount due to me in writting (they say they will but wont put it in writting)and they want me to sign a wavier that says that they are not at fault and neither is the dealer. Come on now just admit you made one bad bike out of (insert number here), cut me a check for the amount due to me, brand the bike as a lemon and lets get on with life. BRP gives me the impression that they dont care if I buy another Can Am Spyder , quad or anything. If the bike cant be fixed it shouldnt be allowed to be sold again without a branded title (lemon law) What if the steering goes out on somebody else and they crash and burn? All I hear from BRP is that once I sign the release I am no longer liable if somebody is injured or dies............ Really???? I could never live with my self if I knew that my old bike killed somebody or left somebody injured and a family devistated all because I didnt fight BRP to follow the law.

I understand and appreciate your concern. Especially for those who may come after you.

However, if it were me (and I know it isn't) but if they are willing to reimburse you in return for a signed release, I would do it. BRP isn't likely to put a bike that they know is dangerous back on the road. A more informed technician than what is currently working on your bike may indeed get it back into running condition, but to me the most likely scenario here is that they just want to cover their butt legally before paying you off.

My advice, take the money, sign the form and then if you still want a Spyder (and I hope you do!) get with a competent dealer like SpyderJeff who has given you good advice here or Cowtown, or another reputable dealer.

Just my two cents, and I hope you remain a SpyderLover!

Thanks so much for your willingness to help! I agree with you that this tech is way over his head because not long after the dealer told me he has no idea how to fix my :ani29: they posted a help wanted add on their website!

We hope that we do not lose you as a :spyder2: owner. You are the first one in a long time where a problem has went this far.

My best advice: Sign the waiver, take the money and run.

I know they are going to treat you fair--think what would happen if they did not. I am sure we and the rest of :spyder2:dom would find out real quick.

The odds of getting two bad :spyder2: in a row would be pretty remote.

Wishing you a good outcome.

Take the Offer!

I would sign the waiver, take the refund, and move on. Keep a copy of your signed and dated title to show transfer and avoid liability for the fate of the Spyder in the future. Together with your agreement with BRP, that should cover you. There is nothing to be gained by rubbing their noses in this any further. They have made a generous, and rare, offer. Your Spyder might be able to be repaired, but it would be time-consuming at very least.

I would not consider the Spyder you received to be representative of the breed. The vast majority of Spyders are racking up mile after mile after mile, with no major problems, let alone many mysteries. I hope you will consider purchasing another Spyder as a replacement. It is a shame you didn't get to experience the joy of the Spyder with this one. Best wishes in whatever path you choose.

As long as the offer paid off what you owe on it, take the offer.

Go to another dealer buy a brand new one and start a relationship with a new Spyder and dealer. I think BRP is being fair with you to offer you $ for it when they don't have to. The waiver will protect you and keep a lemon from hitting the books by it stating it was not BRP's fault or the dealers. It's a win win for all partys involved.
