• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Shiney stuff?

It looks awesome... but if it is like my other bikes,,, when the sun shines on the chrome in the cockpit area... it always seems to reflect in my eyes.... The rest of the parts... lower stuff I do plan on getting.

Who was is it here who had those parts powdercoated black to match their RT? Maybe we should put up some side by side pics of both for a comparison of both treatments...

"Stripperking" is the person who had his powerder coated in black. I did mine in a carbon fiber look.

hmmmm, never thought of that, really, (like to hear what DaBusses has to say) well if so good point, I remember many use to say that a reflection at the top of the windshield from the key area was distracting. For me it never bothered me, I wondered if it went away with the shortening of the wind shield. My biggest concern would be up keep.

I just checked, and everyone here shows they will be at Spyderfest, so I will get an in person lookie

decisions, decisions, so many good choices :2thumbs::yes::ohyea::clap:

Not a problem so far with reflections. Granted I don't have that many miles since the install, but good so far.

Major job! Had to take off all of the console. Look at the pdf instructions before you start. Took me over 4 hours to take it apart. Actually spent 14 hours doing the project. The instructions suck! But after all is said and done, I love it.
The BRP info says handlebar cover, but it's not. It's a complete replacement.

Thanks, Lamont for all of your great info. I have learned alot.
I just installed mine today and all I got to say to you is

I was going to do a "How To" on the install but this is way too much work for your average wrench. This is one of those deals where it would be worth paying the dealer in frustration alone. I can't tell you how many times I dropped those little screws and every time I thought I have enough apart I found I had to take off even more. :gaah:
It was a major pain in the butt. nojoke

Did you have to tap all the screw holes? Mine were full of chrome. :cus:

Thanks Lamont. And yes, I did have to tap holes and one of the things I dropped down under was that tap. Looks like another $10 to Harbor Freight. And like I said before, if it's painted, take it off. What a PIA! I'm so glad to have a pro like you Lamont backing me on this one. But, I can honestly say, my wife has seen parts of the Spyder that many of you will never see.:gaah::gaah:

I bet that SHINEY Chrome would POP even more on a Black RT

Thanks TicketBait for the photo comparison. Great job.

aah, your welcome! You did such a beautiful job, I don't think I can afford the install, if it takes 10 hours, they would probably reduce it to 5 hrs at $ 105 per hour :yikes:

Thinking about adding the Chrome where the wind deflectors go, Is that an easy install?

That's my next project. Looks pretty simple, but so did some the other stuff. I'll post after it's done! I really need that piece as the gray sticks out like a sore thumb with all the other shiney stuff!
:spyder::shemademe_smilie:

Looks great. Now it's worth the aggrivation of the install.:2thumbs::clap:
I don't know about that but I was able to clean up some stuff that I never would have done if I hadn't changed out the bars. I need to do the foot rest brackets now. That should be a piece of cake in comparison.

Except for dealing with the master cyclinder. It's a little tight in there! But I'm sure you can handle it.
:dontknow:
