Shifter post adjustment?

I have been ryding with tennis shoes since I got my Spyder in November. I bought a pair of riding boots and now I find the space between the foot peg and shifter post to be very tight. It looks like the shifter post is on a cam that could be rotated forward to provide some additional space. Before I try moving it, am I seeing what I think I see? Will this provide some relief? :helpsmilie:

if you can get it off. i took the pinch bolt out and still couldn't get the arm off of the shaft. didn't want to beat or pry around on it too much so i bolted a plate to it and attatched an h d shifter peg about two inches forward. lots more foot room.

Yes it is adjustable. I've changed mine a couple of different times to get what is most comfortable to me.

Take the bolt out completely and then the shifter "peg" pulls out. It is splined so it does not rotate. It takes some wiggling to get it out. To put it back in I used a rubber mallet and wedged a block of wood behind the shifter arm. The arm is steel so you should be fine.

Give it some time.

Did the same thing and had the same problem, my boot would kind of get stuck between the shifter and the peg.

But after some riding, I got used to it and it was never an issue again.

Based on some of the responses, it looks like I can rotate it and get about 3/4" more space. If you have not done so, you might want to try it.

Even with that it will probably take a little getting used to.

My wife's is a 2008 so I don't know if the newer models changed. I rotated her shifter up on the spline the least I could, but found it was hitting the Tupperware on the up shift. I had to notch the plastic about 3/4" then all was well.
