I bought my RT-AC in Fallon, IL in March and a week later rode it 1000 miles from St Louis to Melbourne, FL in two days, towing the matching trailer. My dealer had done a good job on setup (the sales manager also rides an RT...is on his second...he just likes them) and they gave me a very comprehensive overview on riding the beast. I had no problems what so ever...it purred like a champ all the way there. Made VERY sure to keep my right foot away from the brake while riding...something I had to think about since I have a size 13 foot.
After getting to FL I started reading this forum and realized I was shifting too soon...I needed to keep the RPM up more than I was. Not surprising since I used to ride a Yamaha V Star 1300T. I also realized I needed to put at least 91 octane in the tank...I'd been putting in 87. I now have around 3200 miles on the bike and will be taking it in for it's 3k check in a few days.
In that time the ONLY problem I've had was during a charity group ride with my wife on the back (she rides with me a lot...she loves the beast) when the bike suddenly went into limp mode about a mile into the ride. I was shocked and pulled over to let the people behind me go by. I realized my big foot had been on the brake...not much, but enough. I waited for a couple of minutes and restarted. Limp mode came back on. Waited a couple more minutes and again restarted...came on normally, we caught up with the pack and completed the 80 mile ride. I have done a number of group rides since, including a 300 mile ryde with four other Spyders yesterday, and have not had one other problem. Not one. When the beast goes in for it's service in the next few days I'll have them check the throttle body to make sure all is ok and tell them about the one limp mode incident. But I feel good about it.
BTW, I talked to the other Spyder ryders on our ryde yesterday (all riding RTs) and found none of them have had a problem, either. And most of them have a lot more miles on their beasts than I do on mine.
This is not to say that others have not had problems. Some obviously have. But, as on any other forum (you should read what goes on at a couple of the guitar forums I'm on...:yikes

, I think that the problems seem far more prevalent than they actually are. And some, I would think, are caused by the riders themselves or the dealers. Having three dealers in the area here, one that I have told I will never do business with again, I do believe BRP does have a problem with some dealers.
Anyway, enough rambling. I love my Spyder and am exceptionally happy I bought it. I hope those having problems can get them fixed. And for those looking in who have ridden for years and wonder about a Spyder, or those looking to ride for the first time...while it is similar to riding a two-wheeler, it IS different and you HAVE to take that into consideration when you buy.
Oh...and some of you? At least TRY to check your spelling and grammar. I know no one's perfect, but, really?
I now return you to your regular program...such as it is.
