• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Shad Top Case or ??

Hi All, I'm getting a new Spyder next week, and one of the options I'm going to need is some sort of backrest. I've looked at the BRP option, Kewl Metals, Corbin, Givi and MMG. I just came across a 46L Shad Top Case with mount for $369 on ebay. The backrest for it would be an additional $50, but even still it appears to be a good deal compared to the other options.

Does anyone have any experience with the Shad? Unfortunatly I can't find any good pictures of it mounted on a Spyder.

If anyone has any other options or advice on a good backrest option at a decent price please let me know.

:congrats:welcome Welcome to the best Forum for Spyder owners....

I have the BRP backrest system. One nice feature is once you remove the back rest, you have a plate you can install in place of the backrest (the main bracket remains on the bike). The plate can be used to mount ANY other top box you may want. How about a Harley Tour Glide box? Honda GL box? You get the idea. I'm not sure how other brackets, etc would work - others would have to add their comments about them.

What ever you decide on, I'd highly recommend a backrest for your passenger - mostly for the safety factor.

Maybe someone will know more but Givi has a trunk called the Maxima I think.Well anyway it comes with a base and you need not buy the sport rack.I am looking to do that, could save hundreds.Hope people who use this box will respond.

I also have the BRP backrest and considering a Givi trunk to try and match my bags. Will (if you know) the Givi turnk mount to the plate on the sport rack without major modification. Do you know of anyone who has done this?

Widow,
My understanding is you can install this Givi bag(Maxima) with the included bracket and add a nice backrest.Saving big money because you need not buy the Givi install plate,or the optional rack and backrest from BRP.
