Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Service manager quit

Yeah now I get to start all over. The BRP trained service manager quit my dealership. And they guy I talked to yesterday asked me if my Spyder was fuel injected or carb :yikes: He said they are hiring a BRP certified guy but could not tell me when that would happen. Now I get to travel 90-100mi. for service until that happens. I found this out after I called about my gas drip after my last 2 rides I am looking for a canister/purge valve replacement. I told the guy, after he asked me about the carb, you must not know much about Spyders do you? :gaah:

You should have told him you have the model with an Amal Carburetor and a Suicide Clutch! The conversation would certainly have gotten very interesting after that!

:roflblack: Well gee lets go all in and mention my lower left side suicide shifter too. :yikes:

Dave, was that RedLine? Where will you go now?
Either Velocity or Columbia Leaning towards Velocity but Columbia is the only Platinum around. Velocity will bring PJ in on a Sat If I make an appointment and there is lots to do in Charleston for the wife and I while I wait.

As I see it..!!

and not to minimize the significance of loosing a good service manager, I would be going elsewhere only if the tech left. You can help untrained service managers but in most cases they are not the ones doing the work. I have worked with and had a few and in most cases they depend on the best tech for help. You may have to really get them to write down your needs so the tech gets the message. Don't dump the dealership if it is a good one, they are hard to find. I've there from both sides...

Gene's got a very good point...
The Technician is the guy who puts, "wrench to machine"...
The Service Manager only needs to know enough, to get him pointed in the proper direction.
(Sort of...)
Still... Good Luck!

Unfortunately HE did all the work too. They said they were looking for a qualified tech months ago. Probably why he left after all the work he did on the 2013's. He and I were both from Ohio so that made me feel good too. I will go back there after they get a qualified manager/tech but I will be giving a test before I let them touch my bike. Remember they are the ones who delivered a broken bike with frunk screws missing. Velocity found that during 600mi. service. :yikes::shocked:

This sucks.

How much is a new canister? Maybe cheaper to just eat it and buy one for now.

And don't overfill the tank which may have filled your current canister, but I suppose maybe you know that. Lol

Enough said..!!

I was that for way to long. Now you do have a predicament. Sorry hope they do come through with new tech but you will have to check him out as well..:gaah:

Why not do a canisterectomy and be done with it? Many have done it with no ill effects.

Because I have a 5yr warranty and BRP can pay for it not me. I will not do anything to affect my warranty. If I did not have it I would go that route.

Never did  It has been doing it randomly since new and I was ridiculed for putting a paper towel under it to detect it. I was told "anyone who puts a diaper under their Spyder does not deserve to own one" I remember that comment because it really :cus: me off. All I am trying to do is keep my bike and house from catching fire. What would happen if some idiot tossed a cig butt under it while I was stopped at a light? (hint see my sig):gaah:

Wasn't me who said that, I would never say that. Sorry to hear of the constant problem.

Have you determined it is coming from the vent tube for sure....and not leaking down from something else loose?

It is the vent tube for sure  I know it wasn't you that said that and like I said it did not make me a happy camper.

RE: Service managers and techs.

My dealer played musical chairs with two different service managers, and techs were on a revolving door through the period from 2012 through 2013. These were the guys that screwed up my famous valve job. They did not replace the gasket and it caused an oil leak over everything. They had to re-do and fix the situation. The second $800 was on them.

I have to "re-train" and get to know another new group this year with my 2014 coming up. There is no option, the other dealer is even less competent when it comes to repairs and service.

I have established a good working relationship with the owner, and they have always come through regardless of any BS I run into at the shop. So, I am still on board with the product.

I can relate to the other comments above.

10-4 on a lot to do in Charleston. Might even be able to meet up with Spike in Georgetown or Currin20 in Charleston. I've heard Velocity is pretty good.

I meant to tell you that my wife's aunt and uncle moved to MB. When we come down to visit them I'll give a heads up. We could meet at Dino's for coffee.

Sounds like a plan to me  I just got off the phone with Velocity and need the weather to improve :yikes:

Remember that gas tanks were directly vented, for many years, and carbs, air cleaners, and some gas tanks had vent tubes that dripped. Horror stories of vehiclkes catching fire because someone tossed a cigarette butt are hard toi find, and most relate to puddled fuel from fuel system leaks. The Lower Exposive Limit (Lower Flammable Limit) of gasoline is 1.4%. That's a lot of drips in an area the size of a garage. The fire danger is minimal to non-existant. Worry because you don't like the fumes, worry because you don't like seeing drips, worry because the system is not protecting the atmoshpere as it is supposed to, but please don't worry because of the danger of fire. These vent tubes dump on the ground to allow condensed vapors to drop down and safely evaporate. It is doing what it is supposed to do. It just does it more like an old atmospheric vent instead of a modern emissions system as it is supposed to do.
