• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Service fees by dealerships

This is something I do not understand...
My dealership just (today) charged me $243 for my 3k mile service (oil/filter)
My friend paid a dealership about 60 miles from mine for the same exact service $390.
What's up with that???

Rates and quality of service will vary all over the place. $300 for an oil change/check over service is common. You actually got a good deal compared to some of us.

Then your going to hate that I got my first service at 179.00. But I had to drive 120 miles because my closest dealer gave me a quote at 360.00. Same with purchase. You have to shop shop shop and be informed.

I paid $400+ for my service, but the tech went over the bike with a a fine tooth comb. All the plastics came off except the fenders and trunks. He even gave me a tour of the "naked" bike. Total service took 4 hours of hands on work. Whatever anyone pays, it is what it is, but remember, you gets what you pays for. I bought a service policy for the next 5 services, so I am covered for 50,000 miles. Happy Trails.

Shopping...

unfortunately you have to shop around for most things on these machines. Try to find the dealers with the least number of brands... the more the brands the further back spyders get pushed...:banghead:

Oh but there is. My dealer did a 300mi. service on my 2015 F3S costing about $400.

Then your dealer is a crook and a scammer. Demand your money back!!!!! or apply credit to your upcomming 3000k

There is a first service "issue" going on with some dealers. The scary part is that many do not have a clue.

The two cylinder 998 engine requires a break in service at 600 miles and then oil changes/filters at about 4500 miles.

The three cylinder 1330 engine has its break in service at 3000 miles and then at 9300 miles later. Subsequent oil changes at 9300 mile intervals.

If yours in not a typo (300 miles) the dealer stole your $400. I would take the manual in, show them the correct intervals, and ask for a free 3000 mile inspection. Your going to find out if you have a good dealer or a slimey stealer.

You got scammed. Show the owner's manual to the service manager and ask him/her to show you where that is covered. If you do not get satisfaction and if the service was recent I would......

a) stop payment on the check or,
b) tell the credit card company you dispute the payment or,
c) tell the dealer he will hear from your attorney unless the money is refunded

This is not always a reliable rule of thumb.. My dealer was one of the first five Spyder Dealers in the US., was the dealer of the year in 2014 and carries six brands and achieves outstanding service awards from three of them including Can Am

The cost of servicing these bikes seems to run from being just "Expensive"; to, "You're :cus:ing kiding me!".
The trick, is to find the dealer that you most trust, and then pay for the great service that you get.

Oh! that 600 mile service that somebody mentioned... Dude ; you got bent over the fence for that one! It doesn't exist... :banghead:
At least not for your 2015 RT, or ANY other 1330-equipped bike.

When I got mine, the sales guys still thought it was 600 miles. The service guys laughed when I told them and said to read the manual. It's 3000. The sales guys know better now. (Remember, my F3 was the first one delivered by my dealer.)
