• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Service Contracts, Extended Warranty, worth the money?

What is the average cost of a service contract, and are they worth it.
Is the extended warranty worth the extra $$$?

I'll get the extended warranty before the 2 years runs out...apparently BRP is pretty nice about it and as long as you get it within your 2 year period, the price remains rather stable...

I thought the same thing...did your put your Hindle on yet?

I haven't bought the extended warranty yet, I base my decision off of how well the bike holds up during the initial warranty period. I can always go back and buy one before the factory warranty expires.

As for the service contract, I just bought one yesterday after hearing the price my dealer quoted for the 6k service and having him tell me the 12k was more expensive. Their program includes the next 6 scheduled services, free oil changes when ever I want for as long as I have the Spyder, and 1 free battery replacement among a few other things. So for the Spyder it does seem to be a value.

Our dealer didn't offer a service contract. We did purchase the three year BEST extended warranty, however...right away. The advantage of buying it right away is that they will provide road service for the full five years that way. Cost us about $900, but prices vary. With the amount of electronics and new technology on the Spyder, the extended warranty seems to be prudent. If I never have a problem, and scared away trouble with my $900, it will have been well worth it.

What was the cost?

My dealers VIP service program was $1700. I figure it they're saying $660 for the 6k service and more for the 12k, then it'll pay for itself pretty quick. The free oil changes are a good deal also considering the cost of synthetic and the fact that I hate changing the oil on the Spyder:dontknow:
