• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SECURITY SYSTEM FOR THE RT -ANY RECOMMENDATIONS

We are interested in installing a security system on our new RT-SE5 and would like some feedback from Spyder owners who currently have security installed on their bikes.

Would also like some suggestions on security for the trailer.

:dontknow:

THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM - ANYONE HAVE ONEON THEIR RT

Still trying to get some help on a good theft security system for the RT.

Anyone have one installed?:helpsmilie:

Sorry, I'm no help, I've left the key in my Spyder for the last 40,000 miles. :Dnojoke

I think any good cable lock would work for the trailer and maybe a disk lock for the RT. :dontknow:

Thanks Lamonster.

Insurance discount was pretty inticing for considering an onboard security system.

So we are still looking for some advice on what works.

You do know there is a security chip in the key so that the Spyder can not be started unless you have a coded key. Even if you get a key to fit and turn it will not start the Spyder.

Perhaps you should make contact with Lojack. The insurance companies seem to love that system, and usually give the biggest discounts for you having it installed.

Best of luck finding what you are looking for.

My dealership offered LoJack for $1299, I didn't take it, I have a deductible with my insurance carrier if it gets stolen.

anybody have an idea of how many spYders have been stolen since they came out?

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I did check into LoJack but not feasable for us because we are located in the "rural" Midwest and most of the Law Enforcement support are not setup for the tracking system.

We are looking into a Scorpio system right now. They provide a couple of different systems that provide perimeter, ignition, and battery backup options. Our dealer has installed the Scorpio on the 09's and we are checking on feasability for the RT-SE5's. The pricing is definitely more in
line with what we wanted to spend.

I understand that completely. We live out in the middle of the woods, and only have small towns around us, so it would not be effective here either.

The Scorpio sounds like it may do the trick for you though. Keep us posted.

Scorpio

wow, I checked out the scorpio web site, that seems like an excellent product. They had the wiring hook up for
the 08-09 spyder, just have to see if that can be used for the 2010 model RT. Will check with my insurance
carrier too. Thanks for bringing this to the forefront spyderwoman

I have the Scorpio on mine and love it.

The perimeter function would be able to be set out far enough to include the trailer.

Thanks for the feedback on the Scorpio. My Dealer has contacted Scorpio and sent off the tech info to get your answer on the install for the 2010 models. Will post the answer when I hear back from the dealer. We were looking for the Perimeter coverage for exactly the reasons mentioned. We wanted to protect the trailer as well.

I highly recommend the Scorpio i900 alarm.
It's a TWO-Way alarm; the hendheld "fob" will get a signal from the bike if a "perimeter" alarm has gone off, a motion alarm (Shake, Sit, pushed) plus probably a few more that I forget.

Easy to install too.
I did skip the ignition kill module as that could potentially lock you out.

The Perimeter sensor works GREAT!, I wish my new truck had it!
