• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Share your thoughts please. What are the most comfortable seats available for a SE5?

'09 SE5 > Can Am upgraded seat, tank bag, trunk liner, Upgraded Can Am grips w/ grip puppies, Cal Sci windshield and Yoshimura exhaust.

Future upgrade plans > Evoluzione Sway Bar, Custom Paint Job, Upgrade Can Am wheels and possibly accident lighting.

But a new SEAT is my top priority.

Like so many before me, I'm so glad I bought my Spyder! :2thumbs:

Can-Am Comfort Seat. Sits nice. And about $100 less than the Corbin. Be ready for lots of opinions.

You said you have the "upgraded" seat - do you mean the BRP Comfort Seat?

If so, most on this site think it is great, but if it is not doing it for you, why don't you have a local shop customize it for you? If you go with any of the Corbins, Russells, or others - you are going to be putting out quite a few bucks, and if you have never sat on one, you won't know how good it will be for you.

Before I would do that, I would give a local shop a try. There is one near me that does custom motorcycle, ATV, car, and boat upholstery. With a better grade and sculpted foam or gel pad fitted to your butt, the current upgraded seat should be as perfect as it gets.

(note, if it is a local shop and they have never done a Spyder, be aware that there is a passenger seat sensor that they will have to be careful around. Screwing that up can, I hear, put you in Limp Mode.)

I would bet you could get your seat customized AND get the sway-bar and still pay less than one of the high end seats.

Of course, this advice is coming from a guy who finds the stock seat just fine. :D

Im another one, that so far is happy with the stock seat, but I have the extra seat skin on, (LOOKS BETTER) maybe some day, I will take it in and get it custom redone.can't see paying the price for a corbin:dontknow: I might think different if I go 400 or 500 miles in one day.

I upgraded to the BRP comfort seat. It definitely was an improvement, but I'm still having issues. I'm going to step up to a Russell Day-long. Just waiting on the $$$
 
I really didn't like the stock seat at all so I upgraded to the BRP comfort seat. I really like this seat and don't have a need to get anything else. Seat comfort is highly subjective...there are plenty of options, and for me, the comfort seat made the most sense.

Yup, I'm looking into the comfort seat also. But right now, the RS-S seat is a really good looking piece with the stitching and all, and it's pretty comfortable (well, it's new!!). So I'll ride this one for a while longer and then make the switch to the comfort seat. However, re-doing mine with upgrade foam/gel/whatever is a tempting notion as well... :thumbup:
 
bjt and I have the Russell Day Long, do a search on Russell Day Long and you will see ours and a few others and our glowing reviews. Have ridden all over the country with these seats and love them.

Best seat in my opinion is the Corbin--in spite of the very expensive shipping they charge. 2008 went from stock seat directly to Corbin. Put 15K miles on that seat before trading up to RTS. 2009 went from stock to BRP comfort seat. A great improvement over the stock seat, and still going strong after 10K miles on the spouses bike. RTS--comes with equivalent of BRP comfort seat--but I thought it was to soft for me. Bit the bullet and bought another Corbin. Takes awhile to break in. After 4K miles, Im loving a Corbin seat again. I have not used any other brands. Just need a seat that I can ride on all day and not need to go to the Chiropracter to fix me up after the ride.
 
I just looked at the Corbin setup, and WOW! :shocked: Way too expensive, and actually over-priced in my opinion. I have other priorities right now, so Corbin is OUT!! Too bad too, because they do look very nice...

yeah, people love them...but if you want a major change without a huge expense, the comfort seat works quite well...
 
Stock seat just needs more foam. Take it to upholstery shop and ask how much to add and fix. I paid $25.00. Works great.

I like the way you think Sir!! :thumbup: I do like the look of my RS-S saddle, so I might just check this out as well. Knowing me, though, I will end up with the comfort seat! :D

I didn't find the lack of padding to be the issue...I found that the shape allowed for sliding and literal crushing of my 'manhood.'...so uncomfortable...as others have noted with other seats, I'd rather be sitting in a seat than on a seat...

:agree: I've had a Russell for almost two years now and put about 15,000 miles on it. It was the best money I spent on my Spyder for riding comfort. If you ever even consider doing more than 4 or 5 hours in the saddle, spending $600 - $800 on a good seat is well worth it.
