• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Seat comfort...

I recently purchased a 2013 RT-S that is Used. Great bike Love it! It came with a Comfort seat and Utopia, I believe, back rest. Well im 5'7" and if i have the Utopia back rest up like it is suppose to my arms are stretched out. So what i have been doing is i have folded the Utopia back rest forward to push me up some. Very comfortable seat just too long. So here is my long winded question. Based just on pure comfort factor. Is the Standard Seat and Comfort Seat the same?

Have not seen any other RT-S around to try out a regular seat so figure I would ask the collective.

COMFORT SEAT INFO

The comfort seat allows a taller rider to sit back approx. 2 inches farther.the standard seat will be what would fit you better. RIDE SAFE-RIDE FAR!:spyder2:

There's always the Tri Axis handlebars that are adjustable and come back toward the driver. Many people that have the comfort seat find the need to have these handlebars, since they sit 2" back further than the stock seat.

I believe that the Comfort Seat is a bit firmer than the stock seat. I don't have any data to back that up but only my personal experience with both seats. I have the Comfort Seat and the back rest along with the TriAxis Handlebars. Unlike the Utopia backrest, the BRP backrest is not adjustable so without the TriAxis handlebars I would not be comfortable on the Comfort Seat.

If you decide to get rid of the Comfort Seat trade it off with the backrest as they are not interchangeable between the Comfort and Stock Seats. Separate part numbers for Utopia and BRP backrests for each seat.

I have rode with both and I am 5'8".
The comfort seat does move you back 2" and I liked how my knees were more comfortable ( better angle)
The standard seat feels just as comfortable seat wise and will get you closer to the bars, but my knees like it less.
I have the adjustable handle bars so I can ride with both - expensive option, but was well worth it to me.

I ended up selling my comfort seat do to the lack of passenger room, but for the driver I liked it the best.

But in terms of pure seat cushion comfort...are they equals?
My 2013 RT came with a standard seat. I'm 6'3", so I ordered a comfort seat right away. The extra 2" made a big difference for my comfort, but other than that I did not notice any difference in the cushioning or firmness. SpyderAnn said she thought the comfort seat was a bit more firm, and she may be right because your butt sits a little further back on the seat pan where there may be a little less cushioning. But any difference in firmness seems slight to me.

For you, the stock seat will have two advantages - you will sit 2" closer to the handle bars, and your passenger will enjoy 2" more room in the back seat. But if you are going to get another seat, you also have other options, like a Corbin or the Ultimate seat. Check out links to their web sites on the home page here. If you want to stay with a stock seat, but you like the backrest, I believe you can get that on a 2014 seat, which will fit a 2013 RT.

Thanks for posting that, Ann. I've been looking for a back rest (in tan) to go with my 2013 tan Comfort Seat. Until I saw your post just now, I did not know anyone made them. Looks like Utopia is my answer.
