• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

did any of you change your seats on your can am spyder rt ? if so which one. ultimate seats look good to me.

I had the dealer order and install a Corbin seat before I got my 2014 RT.
2 reasons, I wanted a heated seat and I also wanted the side fuel door so I would not have my wife get off to refuel. The main point of the Spyder was so she would not need to dismount when I stopped. She has had 4 knee replacements and it is not easy for her to mount & dismount.

In addition to Ultimate and Corbin you can get Russell Day Long, Bill Mayer Seats, Mustang, the BRP Comfort Seat and you can also have your stock modified. Are you looking for a fuel door, heat, more room, looks? Each seat fits a different category and a different butt. The best thing to do is try to go to a gathering of Spyders and ask to sit on the various seats so you know what you are getting before you plunk down a bunch of $$.

Ultimate - hands down

I put and Ultimate Tall Boy on my Spyder RT Ltd. I absolutely love it. It puts a slight amount of pressure to the inside of my thighs from sitting in the seat and not on the seat like the stock seat. Expanded the leg room for me and I can ride without hot spots. Ultimate Seats are good people to deal with also.

Bottom line: You will most likely change out the OEM seat on a RT. I did it with three out of three RT and two out of two RS versions.

The OEM seats are mush. Good for about 50 miles before the support goes out.

I replaced mine with 2 Corbins and 3 BRP Comfort Seat. All were improvements over the OEM versions. Corbin--you either love them or hate them. I liked them.

Earlier BRP Comfort seats were not bad, but the 2014 and up versions are even better. You can spend a lot of money on aftermarket seats. SpyderAnn is right when she suggests going to a gathering of :spyder2::ani29::ani29: and asking to test sit.

Hi bigben,

Re: did any of you change your seats on your can am spyder rt ? if so which one.

Yes, I did. As I have posted before, I bought a used Corbin seat & then had MotorCycleDave ( one of our forum sponsors ) do a rework to make it very comfy. He also cut it back slightly as I am 6 ft tall.

However, I agree that no two butts are the same. What works for me or some other guy/gal may not work for you.

As I see it...

Seats are fast approching the catagory of GTO...It is really hard to make up your own mind much less someone else's....I always recommend going to an event /group ryde and test sit on them. They should have a saddle shop with all the models but we don't and at the cost not too many have had more that one to compare...I have the comfort and am very happy with it but that's me....

Yes I did, I went with a Russel Day Long Saddle and love it.
I will say though that Motorcycle Dave a sponsor of this site has a gel pad insert and instructions to install it, and a lot of people give it good reviews.
That is a whole lot cheaper option than a new seat.

Comfort seat

I changed the seat on my 2015 RT limited to the comfort seat and feel that I wasted my Money. Gave me more room but no change in sitting comfort. Wife also did not like loosing some of her space.

VERY good advise.

We had Mark from Diamond Seats build us a seat for our first RT and it was great. He makes it for your size- height & weight. We have since picked up a new RT with an Ultimate seat- would give anything to have our old seat back. No comparison in the comfort. Diamond Seats advertisement is on the forums home page.

does the brp comfort set do anything better for the passenger, or is
it all about the driver? what more does it do besides move you back
and it looks deeper so it hits your back higher. what else? not many
spyders in my area.

:agree: with both suggestions.. I went with the ComfortSeat because I am tall and needed those two extra inches of leg room. Then I added a matching Utopia backrest, and eventually Motorcycle Dave's gel insert, for comfort. Those combinations resulted in a seat that I am quite pleased with, and can very comfortably ride in for many hours.

However, there's not a lot of room left behind me for a passenger, unless they are on the smallish side. ;). That is fine with me because I usually do not ride duel. If I did, I would have probably invested the money in a custom-made Russell Day Long saddle. I did try out an Ultimate Tall Boy Seat at Spyderquest, but it still did not give me the legroom I needed. Everybody's different. ;)

Comfort seat

The BRP comfort seat gives the driver 2" more room but takes it away from passenger. My wife is not pleased with the seat change but the cost has prevented me from doing another change right now. Eventually will have to find a compromise seat which will give me more room with out taking too much od hers.

I went to Hollister last week to have my Lamonster cut Corbin seat and goodies installed. I'm very pleased with the seat. I had the BRP comfort seat and adjustable backrest. However, within 200 miles the comfort seat will get too soft and it felt like I was riding on the seat pan.

I was able to break in the Corbin seat on the way back home (just over 1,100 miles). Of course we didn't take the direct line home. :coffee:

I agree with what Spyderann01 said.

I went with the Ultimate seat (no gas opening by my choice) but did include the riders back rest. Have been very happy with the results.

My RT came with the BRP comfort seat. (demo) I added a Sheepskin Factory full fitted cover and am quite happy. Very very comfortable. Heated seat with sheepskin makes it nice in both hot or cold temperature. I am 5'10" and 240# and have ridden for long periods of time while the "Princess" is driving and have plenty of room. When riding two up I remove the Backrest.

BRP Comfort Seat is about half the cost of the Ultimate, Russel Day Long or Corbin. JFYI

I had the Ultimate seat on my RTS. I chose it because of my history with that brand on previously bikes. But if I was doing it again, I'd go with Mustang.
