• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Seat belt on a can am!
Advantage or disadvantage? would you use it if they come equipped with it?

disadvantage , the parts of the seat belt { the female end , that latches . and the male end that goes into the latch } after a couple years these would have scratched all the plastic body parts , in a half moon , shape -----> ) ( from being wind blown , and turns . now advantage , if you have a narcoleptic passenger you could buckle them in , but shoot carry some rope , and not worry about seat belt ! :p

:D I'm relieved...
This reminds me... When I was much younger, and MUCH stupider (If you can believe that!); I never had anyone around who would say that to me...
I could have been saved from SOOOO much trouble! :banghead:

:yikes: Damn, didja have to Lou?!? Even thinking of strapping yourself onto the outside of an open vehicle like a motorcycle or Spyder is nasty!! Now I'm gonna have nightmares & flashbacks again!! (Altho the fully enclosed one above might have some merit, if they added bars to keep arms from getting ground off if you dropped it - but then you could probably buy a better looking & more exciting sports car instead!)

Please, before even thinking of doing anything like putting a seat belt on your Spyder (without also installing a full roll cage) just imagine the damage that would occur to anyone in an accident, saaay, if you flipped & were strapped on underneath your Spyder?!? The paramedics (been there, done that!) or the coroner wouldn't need a body bag to pick up the bits, they'd need a vacuum cleaner or carpet shampoo-er to suck up the ground meat smeared along the road!! Yeah, graphic thought, innit?? Now you have a just a tiny idea of the memories that the thought of you doing that brings back to me!! :yikes:

Seatbelts on a Spyder, NOT a good idea!! Air bag jackets or vests, now there's something worth thinking about!! Body Armour over your exposed & at risk bits inserted into your motorcycle clothing, good idea too!! But none of that's any good unless you are wearing it! ATGATT, bloody great idea!

There are pros and cons for sure. If I have to bail as in jumping off because the bike is about to go over (happened a couple times on two wheels), I don't want to be strapped to the bike. Not likely to happen on :ani29: though.

Unlike cars, there are no crumple zones. Not sure I want to take my chances being attached to a bike that is about to hit a tree at speed. Would rather be ejected and take my chances.

I think Honda has the best idea with an airbag. Passive, but helpful in an emergency.

Advantage: ZERO, other than tying down large cargo. Disadvantage: Life threatening, and, worse, likely to give the govt ideas about making them mandatory equipment, and then mandatory to wear. We've got enough illegal regulations against us - helmet laws, seat belt laws, anti choice laws. Don't need any more.

I'm with you....

:agree: unlike an enclosed vehicle where being ejected through a windshield will most likely kill you on open vehicles your chances are better if you can get free.

Airbag

My last bike was a Honda GW w/Airbag. I wouldn't mind seeing that as an option on the Spyder. The only problem you would face if it went off is the humiliation. You see, it blows straight up like a huge elephant butt--crack and all. If it goes off, you literally shove your head and body right up the . . . well you get the idea.

This is it, must be an airbag test

I believe this is a picture of what you describe. Looks like it is fully deployed.
