There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Does anyone know if there have been any se5's (auto)delivered yet?

You won't see them for a while yet. This is from the SpyderRyder website, as posted by BRP:

4. All pre-orders received by BRP (for the semi-automatic sequential electronic transmission SE5) by January 29, 2008 – dealers will receive delivery in September 2008

5. All new pre-orders (for semi-automatic sequential electronic transmission SE5) after January 29, 2008 – dealers will receive delivery in November 2008 until further notice.

I hope that is just a CYA type of annoucement on their website. Because I received a personal email from a woman at the Spyder Team stating that I will be getting my SE5 by the end of May, if not sooner. I guess we have to wait and see what happens.

I hope so too Derwin. For your sake and others who want the electronic shift option, it would be fantastic to see them in the spring.

When I first ordered my Spyder SE5, I was told June or July. Then last month I was told to expect it in September. I was ticked-off, so I contacted the Spyder Team for a more accurate time frame. That's when I received an email for them stating that I would be getting mine by the end of may. For me that would be perfect......having the entire summer to ride it! But I'm really not "banking" on the may date, just hoping!

that would be cool der.....my dealer said sept, so im just gonna expect it then, that way if it comes earlier then its like an early Christmas! ;D

If Jimmy told you that you were first on the list for an SE5, you will be. When it comes is up to BRP, not him. Count on getting the first one, as Pensacola Motorsports has been straight up in dealing with customers. When BRP delivers to a particular dealership is a whole different story. You may not be the first in the country, but you will be the first at Pensacola Motorsports. Good luck on an early delivery

I was told the same. When i ordered mine in January, I was told July (minimum), a followup last week indicated end of May was probable. I am not going to hold my breath for may, but November SUCKS.

Are RED SE5's available now? the Video of the RED looks great. (I ordered Silver)

I rode the Red SE5 yesterday at Daytona, Florida. The color is really great-a true red. The seat cover (add on) also has red stitching. The red is now my favorite. The SE5 exceeded my expectations. Went on a demo tour to compare the SE5 to my SM5 yellow. I found the SE5 to be very "peppy" and it shifted smooth and downshifted great. The seat felt different from mine but similar and comfortable. The one I was on had different CAN-AM silver metal logoon sides, instead of the sticker ones, and they looked much better. Personally, I liked the SE5 better for me, although my hubby who also rode one (silver) did not.

I went to an event here in CA where we had about 20 Spyders.
I followed the red Spyder and noticed the back fender by the brake light is red.
Although you could see the brake light when it was used, it was not as apparent to see as all the others. From a safety side, I would not like the red.
The solution would be to make that fender a black color, then all would be good.
Still like my black and silver.

As I said before, I have the Yellow SE5 on order. But now that they came out with the RED color, I think I like that a little better. So, I called my dealership in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and he said that he would be able to CHANGE my order to RED, but it may COST MORE, and there would definately be a DELAY in delivery.

My question is......Why should RED cost more than the YELLOW, since I paid extra for the yellow anyway? Also, why should there be a further delay? DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY HARD FACTS ABOUT THIS? Has anybody received any DIRECT information about a price difference for the RED model compared to the YELLOW model?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Derwin, my understanding is that the red and yellow will be the same price. This is from the Can-Am Talk forum:

"Can-Am is announcing a new Roadster Red Spyder as a 2008 mid-year release. Orders for the new Roadster Red model can be placed starting Wednesday, February 27th with an expected build date of Summer 2008 and a Fall delivery. The price for the new Roadster Red Spyder will be $15,899 USD. Can-AmTalk.com was able to get some seat time on the SE5 Spyders and spend some time learning more about the Spyder model from BRP execs."

Therefore, unless you ordered your Spyder prior to the U.S. price increase in fall 2007, you should be paying the same price for red as yellow, but the part about a shipping delay is probably accurate.

Cheers,

Bruce

I would get the Red if there was no extra delay. I ordered the SE5 in January and my dealer is telling me that I can expect it around June. Itold the dealer that I would take a red if it came in before the Silver - Well it looks like I will be riding a Silver one (and I am very happy with that too!)

Hmmmmm. Well, after considering everything, I think I am just going to stick with my original order....the Yellow. I told a friend that I was considering the Red model, and he told me not to get it. He said that when red fades, it turns a PINKISH color. That did it for me! I don't want to be riding around in a PINK Spyder! Riding around the North side of Chicago, on Halsted Avenue, I might get rear-ended........and I don't mean my Spyder! ;D

Derwin

By the way.....Is that true about Red on a bike? Just wondering.

It shouldn't happen if good quality paint is properly applied at the factory. A friend of mine had a bright red Honda VFR 750 a number of years ago, which he kept for almost ten years before trading it in on a VFR 800. It was just as red when he traded it in as when he bought it. It was garaged and waxed frequently, so I think that helped to preserve the original paint job. I suppose if you neglected the machine and left it uncovered in the sun for long periods, you might have fading issues.

You do make a good point about riding around on a pink Spyder. That just wouldn't be cool, at least for a guy. ;D

Cheers,

Bruce

My two cents: I agree with Director.

My Suzuki Katana was bought in 1999. Garaged, waxed, covered--Yes, I did actually ride it in the sun, but I just took decent (not really meticulous, mind you) care of it.

The paint job still looks like the photo in the original brochure.

Don't fear the pink Spyder.

You sound like you know him...ARE U JIMMY??? ;D and i was really just trying to be funny...i will get it when i get it...just hope its sooner than later ;D

No I am not Jimmy. I bought my Spyder from him though. I know from personal experience that he and Pensacola Motorsports have acted with integrity in their dealings with myself and my Spyder. If they hadn't you can bet it would be all over the Spyder websites. Good news often travels slowly, but bad news spreads like wildfire. Once again; Good Luck on a rapid delivery of the Spyder of your choice. They are great fun to ride. I am currently waiting for the backrest for my wife to arrive
