SE5 Delivery

Hello,

I purchased my SE5 on August 31, 2007 and was told delivery was March 31, 2008. Then the update came and pushed it to Sept 2008. Just received call from dealer and they were notified by BRP to advise all clients that delivery is now November 30, 2008.

Anyone hear anything different??

What they have said is delivery BY November 30, 2008.

What does your contract / certificate say?

I've not heard of anyone having documentation that they were supposed to get them any sooner than September 2008.

This is from BRP's official website dated March 28th, 2008

3. Customers with pre-orders received by BRP from October 1st, 2007 to February 29th, 2008: Dealers are expected to receive delivery by May 31st, 2008 for SM5 transmissions and September 30th, 2008 for SE5 transmissions. NOTE: These are no longer "Premiere Edition" Spyder roadsters.
4. Customers with pre-orders received by BRP since March 1st, 2008: Dealers are expected to receive delivery by August 31st, 2008 for SM5 transmissions and November 30th, 2008 for SE5 transmissions. These are no longer "Premiere Edition" Spyder roadsters.
Projected delivery dates may be subject to change. For specific information regarding your own delivery, please contact your authorized Can-Am Spyder roadster dealer. For information pertaining to SpyderRyder or other questions, please contact the Spyder Team at [email protected] for more information.

This is an answer to a question about delivery on BRP's official site, as you can see, they are still referring you to the answer that was posted March 28th, 2008.

I highlighted the very important points in their answer.

I didn't realize that they even announced the SE5 back in August of 2007. If that is when you really ordered the SE5, then you can rest assured that you will be getting it by September. I don't think ANYBODY received a certificate with a March 31st delivery date on it, though. I would think your certificate would have a September 30 delivery date.

Are you sure you didn't order the SM?

Yup Derwin, when we ordered our Spyder's back in August and early Sept. of 2007, our dealership told us we could order the SE5 at that time but it would be sometime in the fall before we took delivery. He did not give us an exact date. I couldn't bear going the whole summer with out my Spyder so I ordered the SM5, which I love. I am sure had I been able to get an SE5 when I got mine, I most likely would gave done so. The clutch is not hard to use, it's just that sometimes my hands get sore after a lot of in town driving. Probably getting a touch of arthritis.

Didn't they offer you a certificate back then which guaranteed delivery by September, 2008? I ordered mine back in December, and I received a certificate with that delivery date on it. Well, in any case, I'm VERY sure he will get his by September 30th, if not BEFORE September 30th. I have this on good authority!

We didn't get as far as a certificate for the SE5, I didn't want to wait that long. Also, my dealer has said many times, that things can change, and they do. All the certificate will do for you is guarantee you can get your money refunded if they don't meet the deadline. It doesn't guarantee they will meet the deadline. Heck, we didn't even get a certificate for the ones that we ordered. I know they were generated by the dealership, but he just gave us our invoices and receipts without deposits. We both got our Spyder's in March as promised.

Well, if people didn't get a certificate, then I guess they are open to any delivery date! :(

But I find it hard to believe that somebody that ordered 3 months before me, will be getting their SE5 AFTER me. I guess anything is possible, though. I have been told that I am one of the very first people to order the SE5, and was assured that I will be getting mine by September 30th at the VERY latest, if not sooner. (I can't divulge the source, though!)

I ordered my SE5 last January. I wasn't able to order one prior to late December of last year because BRP wasn't accepting deposits for the SE5 yet from dealers. When you place a deposit, you should get a paper that says when you will receive your Spyder by.

I stopped by my dealer the other day and he said that I should get mine by Sept 30th.

:welcome: :congrats: Good luck to all who are waiting for the SE5 :spyder: I hope you all get them as soon as possible as a lot of you may live in all those cold places that will limit your riding by the fall.. I will keep my fingers crossed for all..

I just don't understand how they can constantly change their minds on the delivery date like they do. Not right when someone orders something and they are told end of September and then a bulletin comes out saying November. Just not right! :edit:

They aren't changing their minds. The difference in the delivery dates is dependent on when you placed your order by.

When did you order your SE5? If you ordered BEFORE January 29th, than rest assured that you will get it by September 30th. BRP never promised an EARLIER date than that for SE5 deliveries to my knowledge, so nothing has changed. Now, if you ordered AFTER January 29th, than you didn't get a September guarantee anyway. So, be at ease, my friend. You will be riding the roads very soon on your :spyder:

The only place I've seen delivery dates change is here on the forum -- as far as I know the OFFICIAL dates are posted on BRP's website. I wouldn't get your drive belt all wadded up until you hear something official from BRP.

Mark

:agree:

LOL! Amen, brother!

I didn't order the SE, I ordered the SM5. Now I didn't order a Premier but I ordered end of April and it is shipping now. So I don't understand if people order an SE and were told September 30 and now they are hearing it will be November - that is what is confusing me - why so long for the SE's? I don't get it. Maybe I read it wrong but someone here was told Sept 30th and now they are being told November 30th? That is a whole riding season up North - it's nice until November and then you really can't ride anymore unless you wanna freeze.

I think you got things a little mixed-up. No dates have "officially" changed. Those that were expecting their SE5 by September 30, are still going to get them by then. The SE5's are not even in production yet, according to the Spyder Team. So those that pre-ordered them, truly pre-ordered a product that has not even been made yet.

The only reason I assumed you ordered the SE5, is because this thread is about the SE5 delivery, not the SM.

Every dealer has access to the latest information using the BOSSWEB dealer network. That is where they get their official information.

Your dealer can log into this and let you know the real scoop, which may or may not differ from what the BRP public website says.

The only thing when they mention November 30th was BY Nov. 30th.... as in ... NO LATER than.

I would also note that if you read your information it says delivered to your dealer... which then could take a week to schedule the prep and setup.

I don't know a single case where BRP did NOT meet the deadline as printed on the paperwork.
