• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SE down shift RPMs

At what RPM does the SE generally auto down shift. Trying to see what the Rotax people think is acceptable for the lower rpm range. See many cautions about running the engine at lower RPMs but shes has a lot of ump in the low end. Some on here seem to think running below 5000 will hurt the engine, with many pushes of red line needed regularly. On the flat in 5th gear at 55 yeilds great milage and shows no sign of distress, so whats the true skinny?

Mine normally downshifts at 2500 RPM, except for going from 2nd into 1st then it happens at 1800 RPM.

55 mph in 5th gear you should be running about 4400 RPM. Most on here say to keep the RPMs above 4000 at all times, with over 5000 being even better.

I think the manual says 2600 rpm for the downshifts. I usually shift before that except from 2nd to 1st where the auto shift seems a little smoother. No doubt that the motor is happier above 4000. Will you damage it below that??? I doubt it, but the motor certainly prefers more RPM for decent acceleration. No different than starting a manual car in third. You can, but it sure doesn't feel right!

Just got back from a rydem so I can confirm a couple of things.

55 mph in 5th gear is 4400 RPM.

65 mph in 4th gear is 5550 RPM.

I did not get over 4th gear on the ryde today, except for the one time I wanted to let it breathe and ran it up to 100 again. :D
