• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SE-5 Auto Trans "SHIFT KIT"

has anyone or anyone know of someone who has rebuilt an SE-5 Auto Trans and had a "SHIFT KIT" installed?

Would there be a need for it?

Think you would need to ride one to understand how well it works in its stock configuration. Are you considering and RS or RT?

One of the purposes of shift kit is to raise the RPM level so the tranny shifts at a higher level. Since you do that manually on an SE5 I can't think what a shift kit would add to the machine. The Spyder has a shift kit built in.

"SHIFT KIT"

I am interested in the RS-S model

a shift kit is designed to reduce the time it takes the transmission to shift and make the shift more possitive. It also reduces the slipage in the clutch bands.

I have not had the opportunity to get on a :spyder2: yet. I want to do my research and then see if I can really get one into mainland China. once all that is accomplished, I will move ahead and buy one.

So for now I will be lingering back here in the dust until such opportunity arrises that I can get one. With good luck I hope in 8 to 10 months.

A thought is to find out if there is a dealer in Guangzhou instead of in Hong Kong. Maybe the manufacture will have that answer? Transporting to HK could be a pain in the _ _ _ _

No need for a shift kit. This is not an automatic transmission. It is a manual transmission with an electromic/hydraulic shifter. Shifts are already "lightening fast".

Whats your goal?

I don't understand the need for a shift kit. As Scotty says the transmission in all Spyders is the same. The SE5 uses a hydraulic ram to shift the gear lever instead of your foot. The clutch is similar except the clutch plates are controlled by centrifugal force with a hydraulic override during gear shifts (NO Clutch Bands). The published speed of the shift is 0.4 seconds that is faster than most people could do it manually. I do question that speed in all conditions because I know the computer will decide to take longer to feather the clutch under some driving conditions. The driver controls the shift points so what would a shift kit do?

:agree: X2...
