• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Scavenger Hunt 2011

Yazz,

Doesn't look like you're running into the frigid weather that Dallas has. Lucky you!

We're snowbound in Ohio, but the temperature's hovering around the mid-30's which is an improvement for us. There's no category for it, but my son informed me that the icicle on the side of our garage reached 54 inches long. Might reach the ground by mid-week...nojoke

I need to ride!:gaah:

We don't get much of Dallas's weather. Too close to the Gulf. Thursday - low 30's with rolling power outages, Friday - low 20's with frozen streets, Saturday - upper 50's. We have proper cold weather riding gear now and wondering why we didn't get some sooner.:dontknow:

That is one big icicle! Hope you get some pictures. That one might set a record. Be careful around those monsters. In Arlington people were badly injured by falling ice. They were trying to get the Dome ready for the Super Bowl.

I hear you about not being able to ride. Spydee was in the shop for three weeks! The last picture was taken on the way home from the shop.

Sorry everyone. One of my brothers had open heart surgery and I went to Missouri to care for him until he was cleared to drive. I'm way behind on postings but will catch up this week

By the way...Missouri has NO IDEA what to do with snow. They stop plowing at dark because "it's unsafe"...give me a break. And they didn't know where to put the snow. Hello! What about that BIG friggin' lake?

You're a good man for watching over your brother. Glad to hear he's on the mend.

You think Missouri is bad, in Houston they are clueless. Freezing rain was in the forecast so they decided to spray de-icing on the elevated roads. Didn't work because the rain washed the de-icing off and then froze to the roads anyways.nojoke

Beautiful weekend. Hubby and I decided to roam the country-side and see what we would see. Ended going on undiscovered roads and meeting a new friend.

Good stuff; especially liked the castle and story!

I went to W-o-t-Brazos last year. It's sort of in the middle of nowhere...

Getting the 6k/DPS combo pack this week, so probably nothing in the short term for me:gaah:

Yeah, W-o-t-Brazos is out in the middle of nowhere. It used to be a bustling town way back when. They turned down the railroad coming through their fair city and that was their demise. Death by railroad.

It was a good but long day.

Knowing you, a couple of weeks down aren't going to keep you out of the race. Looking forward to your pictures!

I have a request. It is difficult enough keeping track of everyone's submissions and I expect it will get even more tedious as players get out with the improving weather.

I ask the everyone arrange their submissions in numerical order. That will make things a lot easier on me when it comes to updating Google Docs.

Thanks

Irish

#34 +50 At a politician’s birth place
William H. Seward 12th Governor of New York, United States Senator and the United States Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson. An outspoken opponent of the spread of slavery in the years leading up to the American Civil War, he was a dominant figure in the Republican Party in its formative years, and was widely regarded as the leading contender for the party's presidential nomination in 1860 – yet his very outspokenness may have cost him the nomination. Despite his loss, he became a loyal member of Lincoln's wartime cabinet, and played a role in preventing foreign intervention early in the war. On the night of Lincoln's assassination, he survived an attempt on his life in the conspirators' effort to decapitate the Union government. As Johnson's Secretary of State, he engineered the purchase of Alaska from Russia in an act that was ridiculed at the time as "Seward's Folly", but which somehow exemplified his character.

Thats a BIG icicle! Thanks for the picture.

Could it will reach the ground before the thaw?

No chance, it's all gone, last couple of days have been above freezing, so we're snow and ice free for the moment. Note my last pic (77) is without the hand mitts:2thumbs:. Supposed to be back to freezing with snow late next week.

Two more for the books:

18. Nine Letter Word: EMERGENCY (100 pts)
83. Unique Mailbox: Largemouth Bass (50 pts)

Neither of these have much in the way of background, so I'll just submit them.
