• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Scala Rider G9

Hoping for suggestions for mounting the G9 to our helmets. Recently purchased the G9 Powerset for our Nolan N43 helmets. After a week of "playing" with the units, I was ready to mount them to helmets. Not so fast! The configuration of the G9, unlike the G4 has the boom mic plugging into the side (helmet side) of unit. Neither the clamp option or glue plate option will allow for proper fitting, due to the neck band on the helmets. I am hoping someone has "traveled this road" before me? The G4 would have mounted flush using the glue plate, to the side of the helmet. Thanks in advance for any possible solutions. An e-mail to Cardio Tech Support proved non productive.

Call Scala. They helped me out with another issue on the G4's. I don't have the 9's so I can't help you there. Good luck!

G9

i bought my SCALE G9 this past April, had issues where certain functions would not work... called CARDO in Pennsylvania, and they were extremely helpful... so call them 1st thing Monday morning...
btw: this is an awesome unit... blue tooth it to your iPhone, and you'll have your very best music to take along with you... yes, it does have FM radio, but who wants to listen to all those commercials...

Agreed, and we are anxious to put the G9 to use. I spent some time before getting to the "mounting stage", figuring out how all of the functions worked. I had to contact Tech Services at Scala for help on the VOX/Voice Command function. I tried and tried, could not get it to activate. Once he gave me a "key" word that the units would recognize, It worked as advertised. The instructions he gave me should be included in the manual. Unfortunately, as I said earlier, he really did not have a solution for the mounting issue.

Response from Tech Support:
Thank you for contacting the Cardo Systems Support Center.

If using the Boom microphone, please make sure that you are speaking into the side of the microphone with the yellow indicator arrow showing. Make sure that the microphone is positioned directly in front of your mouth; not off to the side, above, or below. You will need to speak directly into this side of the microphone, having the microphone as close to your mouth as possible.

To initate VOX, the system is trying to recognize your voice from background noise. This usually requires a ‘trigger’ sound, more so than just speaking into the microphone. The headset will respond differently to every user’s unique voice, therefore the ‘trigger’ sound may be different for everyone. A quick ‘WEW!’ sound; or elongating a word such as ‘helllooo!’, varying the pitch and tone, usually works best for most*.
Once your voice is recognized, the headset will ‘beep’. From there, the headset is waiting for a specific command from you. A command will need to be given immediately after the ‘beep’ is heard.

The commands that the G9 uses are as follows:
“Call Intercom” – used to connect the intercom between a paired and connected headset.
“Radio On/Off” – used to turn the built in FM Radio on/off.
“Music On/Off” – used to turn on music from a paired mobile phone or MP3 player.
(Note: if the command given is not recognized by the G9, the device will turn the FM Radio on by default.)

*Do not shout, yell, or make any quick, sharp sounds, as the device will often interpret this as engine/background noise and make it very difficult to initiate VOX.

You can also use the Voice Commands by first pressing the ‘Voice Command’ button on the module itself (not the ‘A’ button.) The headset will beep when this button is pressed and wait for your command from there.

Please feel free to contact us if we can assist you with any other questions.

Best Regards,

Justin Briggs
