• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Safety concerning brakes

The new Brembo brakes on the 2014 and 2015 RT are a great improvement over the other brakes used on the prior year RT models.
When you mash on the brakes you stop a lot faster and smoother than on the other model RT. Thge control and smoothness is a great improvement
I am glad BRP put Brembo brakes on the new RT. My ski doo had had Brembo brakes and it really helped stopping distance and control.

Completely agree, I can attest to the truth of this statement. Last week, My wife and I were cruising down a county road about to pass a cager when he decides to make a left hand turn right in front of me. I hit the brake HARD and braced for impact. The VSS with ABS took over and I could feel the brakes pulsating as we came to very very quick stop completely under control. On any other bike, I think we would have hit that car. My wife and I just looked at each other and said wow! That was close! After that we have total confidence in the Spyder. If I do my part, it's going to do its part.
 
I am curious about something. My OEM floorboards on our '14 RTS have a breakaway section that is designed to rotate down in the event the the brake pedal drops below a certain point. I think this is a great idea and something obviously needed. I am a little concerned that the aftermarket floorboards that I'm seeing do not seem to have that function. So I am now wondering how important it is.
I have had to do a couple of panic stops and believe me, pumping the brake pedal will not enter your mind. Jam down on the brake pedal and hold on. The ABS kicked in both times and kept the wheels from sliding. They, however did nothing for the years subtracted from my life due to the emmence pucker factor that was experienced. [emoji15] ;yikes
Not wanting to try it by no means, but I can tell you in a cage that if you pump your brakes on a panic stop, it will almost always negate the ABS. It is designed to pulsate at a fixed pressure on the pedal. It can then do it's thing and pulsate based upon what the wheel speed sensors are doing. And I'll bet the Spyder is exactly the same.

So, it sounds like you can pump the pedal a few times to get a firmer pedal, and it may or may not negate the ABS. Or you can step on the pedal once for all your worth and hold it and let the ABS system do it's job and hope it's enough. Huh!

And in reality, if it actually was a panic stop, how many of us would have the presence of mind to pump their brakes? I think I would be more apt to just stand on them.

Any time you need to pump your brakes to stop you should definitely have them taken care of!!

Why bother to tap them a few times? If your answer is to get a full and hard pedal, what is the purpose? The faster you want to stop, the harder the push, and for me with an SM5, an added downshift.
