• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Saddlebag Protectors

This past weekend I took my former boss for a ryde on my RT-S. When she got on, she nailed my right saddlebag with her heel and made a HORRIBLE scuff on the bag. Does anyone in our beloved SpyderLover's family know of any product out there similar to the chrome scuff guards used on the Goldwings? See attached photo. I was able to apply a little elbow-grease to get the scuff out, but would like to protect the saddlebag in the future. I'm just lucky she didn't gouge the surface! Thanks ahead of time for any input!!

Sly - you might consider using the wide aluminum tape used by HVAC installers. If I remember correctly, there's a 6" and 8" width..

Hi Slybird : You raised a great point and question too; I googled Motorcycle Scuff Guards and only ones that came up were for the Honda Wings. So I googled 3M Brand and came up with 3M Paint Protection Film that is used in the auto industry to protect automobile paint from stone chips. It is in film form much like Saran Wrap but much thicker. You could cut is with scissor to the shape you need and apply it to saddlebags. There are also dealers in USA that install too. I saw a :spyder:at Toronto Motorcycle show that a dealer had this film applied to the leading edges of the :spyder:to help prevent stone chips and bugs from sticking to paint. Here is the web site www.3m.com On 3M site click USA then search paint protection film . I hope this helps

3m product

Check with a local new car dealer for who they use for applications on autos. I had my 2010 RT done, full front, side panels, front of saddle bags. Cost 550.00. Would post photos, would not show. I have to run finger over to find edge. See you all in Cuba.

but i dont think the film would protect against a high heel gouge. plus if you dont do the whole saddle bag you will not fade under the 3m tape so when or if you remove it will be different colored.

A couple of places you may look are tractor trailer and 4x4 accessories shops. Many of them have various sized chrome plates with adhesive backing for universal applications.

My wife's R622 trailer has clear film on the front to protect against stone chips coming up from the rear wheel of the RT. This stuff was factory installed so you may want to contact your dealer or Carlos at BRP to find out where they get the clear film from. Buy a couple of sheets and apply it yourself.
