• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

S2S Brake pedal doesn't have pivot down - is it no longer necessary??

When I purchased my 2016 RT, it was pointed out to me that there was a safety feature, whereby if one of the brake circuits failed, the footboard would pivot down automatically to allow sufficient pedal travel. I have now got a S2S and it does not have this feature. Has there been something else fitted or is it now deemed unnecessary.

That foot-plate 'drop away' feature on the 2010 to 2019 RT's is a safety feature, altho it's not so much for brake circuit failures per se, it's more for when you really need to stomp HARD on the brakes in an emergency situation in order to fully depress the pedal and maximise the full ABS & Brake activation - it's really only there because those early RT's foot-plates were raised a bit above the pedal's full depression level just for ryder comfort. :ohyea:

So with the S2S & the 2020 & on Spyders, where the foot-plates have a different design & the brake pedal full depression isn't restricted by them any more, AFAIK it's simply no longer necessary. :lecturef_smilie:

Cheers

If you look at the pictures below you can see why the 2020-2021 RTs don't need the drop down floorboard. The picture on the left is from a 2021 RT part fiche. You can see the design of the brake pedal has the operator pushing forward and down while the picture on the right is from a 2014 parts fiche that has the operator pushing very nearly straight down; that's why the '14 floorboard has to drop down in an aggressive stop.

Thanks to both for the reply. Looks like I was given duff information by the dealer. When I rode my 2016 to the dealer to pick up the S2S we found that I could not get on the S2S. A combination of lower floorboards, thicker seat and my disabilities made mounting impossible. We raised the passenger boards up and I could get on with difficulty. I have since raised the rider boards up 5in. with brake to match. That is why I enquired.
