• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Ryker Electrical System

When the 998cc Spyders came out they had a
Magneto generator output of 650 Watts

The 1330cc Spyders changed to an Alternater with a 1200 watt output

Acordimg to the Ryker Owners manual it has the following spec
Magneto output 400 watts @ 7000 RPM

I wonder if that would take many accessories which owners may wish to add and why BRP did not go with an Alternator

Because a 400w magneto was already designed into the engine configuration for the Skidoo and its much cheaper than an outboard alternator and drive. If lots of heavy draw electrical accessories are what you plan, like heated gear, the Ryker is not for you. Wrong bike. Its not a Spyder replacement.

A few LED lights and a GPS will be no problem. Even a modest stereo.

The Oxford Premium Heaterz Grips Use 4 Amp/ about 50 watts- Wonder if that's all right . The warm and safe heated glove liners only take 22 Watts?

Depending on the series of 998 engine. It either came with a 500 watt or 650 watt rated magneto. That is/was more than enough power to run the basic load and a bunch of accessories. It almost became like a cult prayer chant, to blame all electrical problems on the magneto. With little to no basis in fact. So 400 watts for a machine designed for around home fun. Is more than enough for the vast majority of people will ever need.

I run heated gear on my 2014 Suzuki with the same stator output. A Cycle Gear Hotwired jacket liner and gloves. No problems with that. The liner and gloves total 96 watts but that would be on the highest setting which I hardly ever use. There should be plenty there for grips.

i can remember when the 1965 ford came out with the first alternator it was a 42 amp, amps times volts = watts so that is 504 watts

Not having a DPS like other Spyders will help with the current draw on the Ryker. Has anyone compared the battery sizes between the Ryker and a Spyder?

The battery on the 1330 is Battery Type Yuasa YTX24HL-BS
Voltage 12 Capacity (AH) 21

According to the owners manual the Ryker battery is
Yuasa YTX14L-BS 12V 12AH Maintenance free SLA
