• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RTS Rear Suspension Service Bulletin

NancysToy

Motorbike Professor
As I reported earlier, I had a problem with the new RTS, where the rear suspension could only be operated in manual mode, showing a warning on the display. The problem shows no codes when hooked up to BUDS. This was not the same problem some had reported, where the suspension pumped all the was up, then reverted to manual mode. That problem was caused by a missing bolt in the ACS Position Sensor link.

This problem is caused by the ACS Position Sensor limits being set to the same value for both high and low positions. The system immediately reverts to manual mode. My dealer took care of my problem today, by relalibrating the suspension and resetting the ACS snsor limits. BRP has just issued a Warranty Campaign 2011-006 (dated 4/8/2011?), addressing this issue. Evidently not all the 2011 RTS and Limited Spyders will exhibit this problem, but if your system does not show the ride height gauge, but instead reverts to manual when you press the adjusting button, see your dealer to have this Service Bulletin performed. Damage to the rear suspension could result if you don't.

Scotty, mine did it on the way home from Potterville! Do you think I could wait until my 600 mile service?

Yes, you will be OK. Just open the seat, and check the pressure at the Schrader valve. If it is too high, lower it to below 100 psi. I would suggest 30-40 psi for a solo rider, and 70-75 psi or less for a rider and passenger. Don't go above 100 or below 10, and don't adjust as you ride, and you'll be fine.

Rando, check the linkage to the ACS position sensor link. Make sure it is connected to the frame. Mine was never connected during assembly. You got your RT LTD about the same time I did so it may be related to the same production. Also, when I brought the Spyder in to have this corrected they found the steering angle sensor plug not fully inserted. They just gave the cable a tug and it pulled out. I was told by the dealer that BRP issued a recall notice on this.

Do you have a photo of those areas since I wouldn't know where or what to look at. THANKS!

Here is a picture Lamonster posted earlier in another thread. The part I am referring to is the vertical link left of the shock. The bottom of the link should be bolted to the frame as in the picture. Mine was disconnected. Replacing the bolt cured my suspension problem.

I just home and checked mine. It's attached like it should be.

Thanks, how about the steering angle sensor plug?

Had seen this thread and meant to check it out on my new Limited. Forgot and 100 miles back down the road this afternoon, Bingo :spyder:Manual jumps at me.
Am diverting toward Cowtown to say hi, maybe they can fix it if not too busy with Spyderfest!
Made it to Terre Haute tonight. Have to see what weather brings tomorrow.
