• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT wouldn't stop despite braking & Kill Switch operation - any others?

Today at about 40 MPH, Iinadvertently hit the kill switch. The spyder slowed a bit and when I realized what had happened, I hit the switch again and the engine started. There was no jerk no leach nothing except power. I did not notice a computer reboot or anything else. I think I would have noticed a reboot of the gauged did their normal thing.

That being said the it is awfully easy to inadvertently hit that switch on or off. Other kill switches that I am familiar with take a bit more positive action to activate. It is possible that, in panic mode, that the kill switch was pushed off and on again.

I believe I asked if the OP tried the kill switch after the incident and he replied he had and it still wasn't working.:dontknow:

Thank God she is alright.

First things first, she did have God as a passenger. I have experience the same situation, but in dry weather. Almost in all cases, it was missing the break pedal with my foot. Almost bought the farm the other day and without question, I will have a hand break installed for safety reasons ASAP. Mine is a SE5, if that is a difference, but I think not. Can Am Spyders has impeccable brakes, if you can find the brake pedal in a panic situation. In my case, it also depends on what type of footware one is wearing. In my opinion, the Can Am Spyder is an extremely fun bike to ride and also I feel there is a design flaw in finding the mechanism to stop a bike with great brakes. I hope BRP gets their act together and gets this right for all the Can Am Lovers out there.

Well, personally I think BRP does have their act together at least regarding the brake pedal. Even riding with substantial boots I have no problem finding the brake pedal. Heck, it's the only thing down there by your right foot. And the problem with making it bigger is that then you'll be far more likely to ride the brake, which causes limp mode and overheated brakes. The kill switch kills the engine from running...AND the DPS as the DPS won't function without the engine running-- it draws too much power.

The owners manual has a training procedure that everyone should be familiar with pertaining to using the kill switch and coasting to a safe stop.

Will be interesting to find out what the dealer finds out.
