Well for the first time since I brought the RT home in April 2010, she has let me down. Went out to start it this morning and it turns over but doesn't "catch" to start. Seems like there is plenty of battery, just whirls and won't catch. When I turned the key off to do the remove and walk away trick, I saw an EBD fault flash but it has not shown since. Tried a couple more times but she still won't start. Ideas?

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Possibly flooded. Try a Wide Open Throttle starting procedure.

WOT Procedure
Do a wide open throttle procedure to clear the excess fuel.
Turn key on and do what you would normally do but just before pressing the starter button. Crank the throttle wide open and hold it there during the engine crank. This turns the fuel injectors off and clears the engine of fuel.
Warning do not crank for more than 30 seconds and then wait 1 minute before cranking again, to allow the starter to cool.
I recommend doing this twice and then trying a normal start.
You also may run the battery down and may have to put a battery charger on in to charge it back up.

Thanks for the suggestion. WOT procedure made no difference. No odor of gas so I don't think it is flooded but still just whirls and will not catch. When my John Deere sounded like this a few weeks back, the spark plugs were fouled. Not sure how that would happen here but looks like I'm going to need the dealer to come pick it up and check it out.

Fouled plugs on a Spyder is not a common problem, but anything is possible.
Let us know what they find.

Not knowing how long since she last ran nor how old or stable the fuel is it's hard to say. Fuses are one other place to check. Then you go into the other things like switches coils and wires...hope it's something simple...:thumbup:

I it wasn't on a battery tender for those two weeks it could have a weak battery and won't let the starter motor engage that is probably why it is just whirring.
try charging it up hope you get it fixed and it's an easy fix

Has never been on tender
I admit my battery has never been on a tender. After a dozen or so tries at the WOT technique, the bike finally started. Drove over to dealer to discuss with mechanic and he said he has flooded bikes just moving them around the shop. Apparently some are touchier than others but this was a first for me and I agree, the battery may be a bit tired. After all, it is 4 years old and has spent every winter in Illinois in a garage without a tender. Thinking I need to remedy this situation. Thanks everyone for the assistance!
