DPS position sensor? Passenger Sensor? I am NO Wrench. I guess the DPS sensor helps with the control of the Spyder...?? But passenger sensor?? Please explain what these do and what they does to affect or cause "yellow screens". I have a passenger sensor in my truck which activates the air bag...but on a Spyder....duh??
Please help this old timer on these "new to me" items.
I took BR1 out for a 50 mile ride this morning, ran 50-85 through the gears, 8,500 rpm for a short time in 3rd and crused at 70-75. It ran great with no "check" screens.
boborgera is correct...
Additionally I did go into some detail in one of my posts above on the details...
These Spyders are small multiple computer sensors with three wheels. Oh and some other fandanlged stuff.
In a nut shell. The flashing on and off Spyder with squiggly lines around it has many responsibilities. One being the Passenger Sensor. It was coming on, we would take our Spyder in and our dealer never found any "BUD's" info to tell us why. Made us feel like dorks. So we go back, pickup our Spyder and ryde. Then it happens again and again...
It never hurt the performance of the Spyder, but is was annoying. Combine this, with the drop in performance after the second tank of fuel on a day long ryde, with the on again off again power steering. I got pissed off during a day out for a stroll, and drove our Spyder to the dealer without turning off the Spyder. This way they could finally see (I felt like they might think we had been F.O.S.) the darn light coming on and off, feel the lack of power-steering and power.
Back to the flashing Spyder. It tells us something is not right, but is not necessarily going to trigger a BUD's code. It has many things that can make the light come on.
What makes me think these sensors are the potential issue, and not a major mechanical issue is quite simple. Mechanical usually stays broken. Electrical/computer/sensors/relays/etc usually reset after turning off the key. And many times do not come back on for hundreds of miles until you can narrow down what you are doing at the time to make the issue happen again. That is how our situation was solved. Keeping track. Once they discovered it was after a long ryde when these issues came up, it helped them narrow down the potential issues and they found them very quickly. :2thumbs:
I am in no way suggesting any of my experience with these symptoms are the same as yours directly, but I suspect parts of it is for others...
