• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT Trailer module routing

Well I finally got my Hitch yesterday and stayed up late installing it, everything went pretty smooth but one thing, I don't like the way they rout the wires through the inner fender, seems like they would have a pre cut hole with a grommet or something instead of leaving the gap like that. Anyone have any problems with water intrusion with that big gap?Going to pick up my trailer this morning will post pics later after I have some caffeine :chill: :ani29:

I'm not sure yet but I really dislike the female plug being on the botton of the left saddlebag. It is a PITA to hook the plug from the trailer to.

Thought. Next time you plug it in - before you twist and lock - put a dot of fingernail polish on each half. It'll help you line it up when plugging in.

Not sure what you are talking about regarding the "big gap"? I have installed them completely hidden, or with just a tiny bit of harness extruding between the most forward seam between inner panels.

I routed per the instructions and it left a gap between the inner fender and the side panel, I think I will try and redo it this fall when it cools down see if I can find a neater way to rout the wires.I was surprised that they didn't have a pre stamped punch out or something since they did pre mark the mounting holes, it seems to work fine so far just prefer a neater look than just forcing a gap between panels for the wires to come through. :f_spider:

Finally got trailer wired and almost ready to travel so posting pics.2012-07-08_12-22-22_346.jpg2012-07-08_12-19-48_637.jpg :yes::yes::yes::ani29::ani29:

wiring harness

Be very careful on installing the wire harness and make sure it is SECURELY fastened to the side somewhere. Mine was dealer installed and somehow developed a sag and rubbed against the tire. When it finally wore through ( didn't know at the time ) it brought me to a sudden halt and went to limp mode.Could not get anything to reset.Fellow rider mentioned that he didn't think I had any brake lights and that's when we started looking and found the blown fuse and noticed the damaged wiring harness. Replaced fuse , moved the wiring harness and everything returned to normal .

There is no really good place to fasten the harness but there is a screw on the side of the saddle bag that can be loosened and harness can be fastened to it using a zip tie.

The harness can be routed to the inside of the inner fender, so it is not exposed to the tire. It takes a bit more work, more panels loose, and more time, but I have done two that way.

rerouting

Thanks for the info on rerouting to the inside , I'll mention that to the dealer when my replacement harness arrives.

Thanks for the info I was wondering if there was a better way to rout it and will be doing so soon as the weather cools down :-) meanwhile I will keep a close eye on it.:banghead:

Thanks for the warning, I figured I had it good enough till cooler weather but after reading your post I went out and checked the wiring, sure enough it was already rubbing through so I zip tied for now till I can reroute it.:banghead:
