There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RT trailer hitch mud flap

byker

New member
I had a BRP trailer hitch installed on my 2014 RTS SE6. It seems like the mud flap that is installed just below the hitch causes more rain, dust and dirt to be deposited on the back of the bike. I don't remember as much debri present before the install. I think the lower flap is to keep dirt from the trailer, but I'm wondering if any of you guys just remove that lower flap to keep less dirt from going up the back of the bike? Yesterday I was caught in a 10 minute shower and looking at the back when I got home, it looked like I hadn't washed the bike in a month. It could be :yikes: i just hate the beautiful black (name: Black Pearl) paint job to have dirt on it.

The back of the RT gets pretty dirty no matter what but the trailer mud flap probably does contribute to it. Spyderpops makes a Rooster Tail Eliminator that cuts down on the spray. You will need to make holes in it to attach your trailer wire though.

That flap also is intended to reduce the amount of damage from thrown rocks from the rear tire onto the front of the trailer. I don't care for the flap, but wouldn't risk the finish on my trailer. I remove the trailer hitch when not pulling.

I been looking at all flaps, fender add on,etc and trying to decided what I want to do to keep the crap from flying on the back end of my bike..:dontknow:

TIMELY THREAD

Right at this very minute ( well almost )....I hope I am solving this problem......I just fashioned a 12"W X 8"H piece of galv.sheet metal to fit inside my HM hitch it will be 6 " from the ground...I am also attaching a thin pliable piece of blk plastic to the inside of the fender ....the two pieces are spaced apart and never touch , they will slide past each other as the suspension does it's thing......I'll see if this works ......Mike

I have the Spyderflap and just added the Spyderpops splash plate but have not ridden in the rain yet to see if the plate helped.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1438221327.421986.jpg

I have the Spyder Pops "rooster tail stopper" and the OEM mudflap. Rode in the rain yesterday and did not help as much as Harvey (the real Spyder pops) said it would. Looks nice though and fills the void. Yea, I would get it again.

I may have to buy this. Take a look at the back of my :spyder2: after riding through a huge mud puddle :gaah:

I had a friend cut up into a couple pieces a Semi trailer mud flap. cut it wide enough ( not wide enough in the end tho, should have cut it a little wider than the tire) to cover the back tire. bolted to the plastic and in front of the hitch. Reaches down far enough to alomost take all the crud out and someplace other than the back of the bike or my helmet!!! Was a cheap fix. Got the flap from a truck stop.
