• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT test drive rocking motion

Mine did the same thing when I first got it. Part of it I believe was me just not being use to it. When I checked my front tire pressure it was about 30. Lowered it to 18 and it's much better. Hope you get it figured out..

Several posters do not say which year RT they have. The shocks on the 2011 were upgraded from 2010 and do a better job.

I had been reading the posts here before and after I ordered my 2011 RT. When my dealer called and said it was in and being put together, I told them to set the shocks on 4 and put 16 # of air in the front tires and 28 in the rear. They did. I found 16 in front was a little low for my liking and upped it to 18, then 20 and then 25 with road tests in between. My sweet spot is 18 in front and 30 in the rear. The shocks on 4 are fine for me.

Try different air pressures in your tires...put 22# in front and ride a while...too stiff...let out 2# and continue test. You will find your personal liking.....not what I like...but what fits your riding style. JMHO

I took a 2011 RT for a test drive. It felt like it was rocking from side to side in a constant cyclical roll type feel. Speed was from 50 to 70 mph. Felt very unsettling. I did not like it at all. I have driven my gs almost 40,000 miles and it feels rock solid on the highway at any speed. Based on this experience, I would not purchase the RT model. Could soft front suspension cause this?:dontknow:

Bump.
Curious Spydee if you ever test rode a different RT and what the result was?

New RT Limited

I had the same experience when I picked up my new limited last week. It is a 2011. On the 20 mile ride home from the dealer the I was ready to take it back and get my money back. I had been reading this forum for weeks so when I got home I started playing with the air pressure. The fronts from the dealer were Left 14 psi and right 15.5 psi and the rear was 26 with the front shocks in the second notch from the bottom. I adusted the air and moved the shocks to knotch 4. We drove the bike another 100 miles around Birmingham and then rode to Baton Rouge, LA. By the time we got home 3 days later we had 1000 miles on it with no problem. I also quickly learned to have a very relaxed grip on the handle bars and when turning I either push with one hand or pull with the other but never both push and pull. It seems to me that if you are pushing and pulling you put uneven pressure on the steering and it gets a little jerky.

I doubt it's anything you are doing.
I suggest you tell the dealer what happened and ask for another test ride after he fixes it.
If an experienced rider is unhappy with the test ride, a novice will be even more upset. It will be in your dealers best interest to repair things.
What you describe is definitely out of the ordinary. I had lots of difficulties with the front end and I finally got them all sorted out.
Or maybe find another demo RT to test.

My experiences

Well I went from a GS to an RT and found similar results. Now my RT is a 2010 with terrible stock shocks for us aggressive drivers so I put Elkas on and now can corner with the best of them. The one thing I found out is that a sport model does not compare to a touring model. I have something in-between now but more like a sport model then a touring model. Those Buick drivers would not like my stiff ride but that's why they make Buicks. I saw you at Huntsville, to bad I would have let you test my RT out, you would be amazed!

I also had a similar experience when I drove my new 2010 RTS home from the dealership after trading in my 08 GS.

I wrote a quick review of my impressions the first day, and noted the different handling and mushy feel of the RTS compared to my GS. I had 22K miles experience on the GS.

Two hundred or so miles later--I am loving the RTS. I am now over 17K miles on the RTS.
IMO: Its probably a combination of air pressure, shock settings, and the grip on the bars.

my english is so terrible so I use this answer as it would be mine ..BUT
did 13.000 mls on my GS - and got a bloody knee (no joke) on my RT 2010
with the new 2011 shocks problems are solved - on a testweekend with a RSS (1500mls) my friend found out .. the RT is NOT a buick .. on tour (1500mls ) she was "faster" ..
(thanks to "doc" to help me with my adjustments ..)
