RT temp

It's far from hot here in the great Northwet - we've only had 12 days at or above 70 in the state, this year.

Regardless, driving through town, my Rt temp gauge will go to just below the red line at a stoplight - then drop back as she rolls forward. Yes, the fan works, I can hear it when parking. Even so, the fan does not bring the temp down, just seems to stabilize it.

Don't know if this should be a concern or not - she never heats up when running, even when zipping through the twisties, or putting along in commute traffic. The operative is - moving. When she's stopped and idling, it get hot, regardless of whither it's 60 or 80 (it's a REALLY rare day to go above that)

Check your coolant level. With the fan running, my Spyder never gets passed half way up the scale. And we are in the 100 degree range here.

I believe the OP is talking about the analog gauges on the RT. We have the same issue with ours. It usually stays right in the middle while riding but when stopped it creeps up to the line just below the red "over temp" and then the fan kicks on and it will stabilized at the line below the red until we start moving and then drops back down to the middle. I don't think the analog gauges are very acuarate. I have read here that if you unplug the analog gauges the digital one will pop up on the screen and will show the bars and several have said that there is actually alot more bars to go up and that the Spyder is ok. When they removed the analog gauges the bars were usually around 6 bars and that the Spyder is fine and still has room to go up in temp based on the bar scale on the LCD screen. Hope this makes since?

Had a problem with coolant leaks over the winter, so there's still a bit of angst over the issue.

I unplugged my analog's last Sat. The digital gas ant temp.gauges have about 10 bars. Rode 125 mi. yesterday. It was in the very low 70's, I did both Hwy. and city riding. Temp. gauge never got over 3 bars. I have the SpyderPop black plastic cover on my right side and the floor panel removed. I don't feel any engine heat.
