• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT Shelf Kit

I was looking at the two different shelves that are out there but ended up using a fanny pack screwed in were the BRP mp3 bracket goes and two smaller pouches from home depot on the sides. This hold glass, flash light and any junk the wife has, plus I still have that big black hole for other stuff. I will try to send photos later if you would like.

I use BRP shelf and top bag all the time. It is a great way to avoid loosing "stuff" in the bottom or the rear case. I too had problems with the velcro coming loose so I used washers and aluminum rivets to keep it where it should be. You have to keep the "belt" snapped below the shelf to keep it where it should be!

Then the thought hit me. In order to support the rear of the shelf, the strap needs to be pushed back. So, contarary to the instructions, I positioned the brackets at each end to more of an angle, therefore moving the strap closer to the back. This seems like it will help support the shelf much better. I'll have to test it out and see if it does the trick.strap.jpg

Maybe this is how you are supposed to position it, but that's not what I got out of the instructions.

i had the BRP shelf on my 2012 RT Ltd, it was standard equipment, replaced the velcro with a heavy duty velcro and it stayed up fine when in the closed position, the strap is used to support the shelf when it is in the open position, i used the shelf with small peices of velcro to hold a small brush and a business card holder. The shelf is overpriced for what it does (but what is not) but when used properly it works as it should. MY .02 Worth.

Has anyone got the shelf from Inspector Gadget?

Do you know it it folds up?

Seems pretty secure.

It does not fold up and tips up slightly.
You would need to completely remove it to reach anything beneath it.
All said it is much better than the flimsy stock shelf.

The shelf came as standard equipment on the 2013 RT Limited. I took it out and set it in the motorcycle closet. Not worth having, IMHO.

Put it through a good test this evening. No problems. With the way the straps are near the end of the shelf, it provides a much more stable shelf. Put my keys, wallet and phone on the shelf. Before, it would fall into the black hole; this time, they stayed put. This also slightly leans the shelf back, so it's even harder for things to fall off.

Try this if you want to make the shelf work. Definitely worked for me. :D

Oh, I agree. If I knew it was this flimsy, I definitely would not have bought it. But since I do have it, at least I found a way to make it work. ;)

:agree: Besides... you can get it 3 bucks cheaper online with free shipping. And for $3 bucks difference, I wasn't going to buy the one at the OE... $20 off then maybe!nojoke

Crap! You beat me to it!

There is 2 of them, one for each of us :roflblack::roflblack:
