There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RT-S Versus RT-S Limited

I've decided to pull the trigger next week for an RT-S or RT-S Limited. My wife, Cindy, wants me to get the RT-S in that it is red and I'll/we'll be more visable.

My question is how much trouble will I have installing a Garmin 660 GPS (which I have from my old RT-S, [not the wiring] ), and having XM radio and helmet communications installed? Or can this be done?
Note that when I say RT-S I'm talking about the model which is one step down from the RT-S limited.

If I can't get the GPS and the XM and communication system installed on the RT-S, then my only option is to purchase the RT-S limited.

Money is not a real issue although I would like to accomplish those installations as inexpensively as I can. DUH!!! Any thoughts?

I installed the GPS kit from BRP on mine...no big deal.

The one other thing you will not get is all the semi-ridged luggage which is included as part of the limited, but you can add that on too if you wish; that's what I did.

And if I'm not mistaken, you can also add on the option for the CB/Communication package. The wiring connections are already on the bike just like for the GPS. So its just a matter of adding the harnesses and plugging them up.

Note: The added options will be installed by your dealer. If they are "new" to the spyder like my dealer was, a word of caution. The instructions for the install of the GPS which was included in the BRP package while it reads correct, ALL of the images were of the WRONG side of the bike. So it can be a little confusing if you try to study the pictures to figure out the install. Like when it says to remove the right head light, but the picture clearly shows the left one being removed; and it is the right one you need to pull out. Just a heads up.

I assume you are talking about a lava bronze LTD, since the white is quite visible. I am partial to the red of course, but get something you like, and work it out with the wife. For increased visibility, I think the ESI/CD Mudflap Lights, HMT Taillight, BrightSides, etc., and probably their Genesis brake flasher are your best bets. All colors seem to disappear under some circumstances, but lights tend to stand out. Other vendors such as TricLED sell similar products.

Getting back to your question, it shouldn't be any problem adding these accessories. Why don't you talk to the dealer about it? Maybe they can add some lights at the same time. It will be nice to see you back on the road soon. I'm sure you're eager.

I just got a 2012 White Limited. Highly visible. Buy the White and tell her it is red. In a couple of days she will begin to believe it.

Chris, if you decide to buy the Spyder, make sure you have them install any NEW BRP accessories your interested in prior to buying it so all of those accessories (CB/communication system, XM radio ) is covered under the full spyder warranty (2 Yrs). Otherwise its 90 days. (Refer to owners manual page #164 "Scope Of The Limited Warranty")

Glad to see you're ready to get back in the saddle. I brought an 11 LTD and like it a lot better after I put the OOO-GAHH horn on it. We plan to be in Daytona for Biketoberfest and hope to meet up with you and Cindy again.

I have the lava bronze limited, extremely visible people can't stop staring at it, even have people roll their windows down to give me the thumbs up.

Added tricled, fender led's and 3rd/4th brake light really visible.

With some of the deals going around you should be able to get into a limited at fairly good price, by the time you add up the GPS, harness and install to a regular RT S you might save a little.

White is very visible of course. God luck with which ever you chose.

I've been turning my A&C model into an S over the past couple of years; it's not a big deal at all; you can upgrade an S to a Limited pretty easy...
GPS, Wheels, mirror and exhaust covers, luggage and travel cover as time and funds permit...

RT-S or Limited...........Hmm? In Canada it is basically a $ 3500.00 decision.

- Up here the year end deals are around on all of the models not just the Limited so similar savings are available on the RT-S.
- Lot's of folks seem to relocate the GPS from the handlebars anyway claiming it "distracts" them to have to look down at the GPS?
- Lot's of folks seem to sell the luggage in the classifieds here anyway?
- You get chrome wheels on the RT-S they are smoked chrome rather than bright chrome, if the Limited got you a chrome back wheel and sprocket different story but it doesn't so not much gained there?
- Chrome muffler tip and shield are cool but a nice Yoshimura Exhaust can be had for a little bit more than the price of the chrome tip and shield?

Now it comes down to colour, which do you like more (?).........for me the extra premium for the Limited just didn't do it for me. Good Luck the beauty of your decision is you just can't go wrong.

new spyder

welcome back Chris & CINDY hope to see your new machine before I leave for oregan again this year.

Hey Rudy!!!! Thanks for the response. (Actually thanks to all for their responses). Yep, Cindy & I, are probably gonna go down Monday and do our thing. We certainly look forward to seeing you and Connie as well.

Can't add much here. Get the color you want though, so you won't have one of those "wow-I coulda had a V-8" moments. You can add what you want if you need to--although it will cost you more to do it that way.

Let us know how the shopping went. Whatever you do--it should be fun. :2thumbs:
