• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT-S v. RT A/C

Cooter

OK, been lurking for a bit and enjoying the community, particularly the "what is that" threads. I hate to mention this, but the SWMBO has persuaded me to purchase a spyder. Of course, now that I have the official go ahead, the $$$ are starting to show up. The big issue surrounds the difference between the A/C and the S version. According to BRP, the S has an "electro" rear shock and additional lighting. Is the price difference worth it? Personally, I think that the more lights that are on, the better, particularly when it is dawn/dusk.

Thanks for the information in advance, it is much appreciated.

If you ride 2 up a lot, the "S" is worth the extra $$, if not, keep the cash - unless you buy one of the "S" on the forum… both are priced very well.

YES! I bought an A/C and spend a lot of money on the extras that were standard on the RTS. The rear air shock is worth ever penny. It makes the ride so smooth. I added the fog lights and the rear speakers/controls which are both standard on the RTS. You will spend a lot more money on BRP upgrades and labor for just a few of the things that are standard on the RTS. It will be cheaper and you will be happier if you just buy the RTS instead of the A/C.

We bought an RT added fog lights and the rear suspension, both are worth the cost, my wife thinks it should be illegal to sell a spyder without the air adjusted rear suspension as she has been on the back for 2000 miles without and the rest with.

The add-ons to the RTS over the A&C include rear stereo speakers, rear audio controls (only to change the channel w/o the CB and drive the rider nuts), LED accent lights, foglights, front cargo liner, front cargo hold LED light, chrome wheels, chrome trim, and an additional MP3 adapter cable, electronically controlled automatic rear suspension, and electric trunk release(?). There are also some additional color choices. If you want some of these accessories, then you have to decide if the money is better spent on the entire package, or just a few individual accessories. I agree that the foglights are worth having, and I like the cargo liner and rear speakers. The ACS is a good thing, too, especially if you carry a passenger often. To me the RTS is worth the cost, but I could probably be happy with a tricked out standard model...if it only came in Viper Red. :)

Well I'll offer the counter point and say "no". IF you add on the accessories you want yourself and don't pay labor. I bought the AC and saved over 3,000 bucks on the purchase and added everything the RTS has except the auto suspension. But the money saved on purchase paid for my lights (LEDs and Fog) as well as Elkas and a Corbin seat and went a little ways towards the hand brake that I really needed. Just my two cents!

Does the addition of the Elka rear shock make up for the automatic rear suspension?:dontknow:
Different animal. The RT shock provides the damping and half the springing, the airbag provides the other part of the support. The ACS allow the airbag to self-adjust, or be changed on the go. The damping does not differ from the manual version. The Elka would only provide increased, and possibly adjustable damping, plus an adjustable spring. This could make you feel less inclined to change the airbag setting, but it would not replace that function.
