There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RT-S 6,000 Mile Check

RT-S PE#0134
Well, after a Smokey Mountain trip last week, I've got 7,200 miles on my RT-S. Dealer says that the labor cost for the 6,000 mile check will be $510 plus parts. Got it scheduled for next week. Anybody had the 6,000 check done? If so what were the labor and parts cost?

I had a service contract with my dealer for un-limited service for the first year. When I took my :spyder2: in for the 6000 mile servie i was quoated $658 I think. That was untilI reminded them of the contract.

I don't have a service contract and it was as follows:

Labor: $569.50
Parts: Oil ect. $ 72.92
Misc. $ 14.98

Total: $657.40

This included change of oil. Adding spark plugs. Adjusting drive belt and torquing rear wheel lock nut. Diagnostic run on everything. (which gladly turned out good) Checking tires, and you name it. A very thorough service and inspection.

Hope this helps.

Hope I can out of there with a similar cost on parts, but I'm holding on to my wallet!

I had my 6k mile check up done 10 days ago, the parts came to $119.90 and labor $880.00

I used my 3 times a year pre-paid matinence agreement on this one and I will again on the 12k,the 9k will be up to me.

I was not offered a pre paid agreement ( I wouldn't have taken it anyway.) One thing I won't be paying for @ my 6000 miler is the oil/filter/as I will be changing my own as I have always done with my machines.
These companies get us coming and going somehow.

Had the pre-paid maintenance for the 2009 GS, but bought the RT-S from a dealer that doesn't have pre-paid maintenance agreements.

Someone is definitely getting hosed.

I may have been, but I'll gladly pay. I have a very good relationship with my dealer and it's "tech". I look at it this way. I know very little about how my spyder runs. All I know is that I haven't had any trouble (knock on wood) with my spyder, I have really enjoyed it and I can afford the amount being charged. What more is there?

Parts $88.75
Tax $4.42
Labor $132.00
Total $225.18
Some one is getting hosed.

On my 6K mile check this also included removing spark plugs and replacing which they did,

and inspecting valve clearances and adjusting if necessary. On top of the regular interval stuff.

I hope your mechanics are checking everything they are suppose to for that labor rate.

Feel the same way. Dealer said it would take the better part of 6 hours to do the work. I'm not in a position to know if that's legitimate or not, but I do trust the dealer and the BRP certified tech doing the work. So, as I've said before, I'm holding on to my wallet, but then reality sets in....

:agree: Having a very good relationship is worth every penny.
Remember you don't just pay a GOOD Tech for what he does,
You also pay him for what he knows.

Got the RT-S back today and the 6,000 mile check only hit the wallet $564.18. The Tech said everything checked out to specs and per the manual. Expected the hit to be a lot higher. Ready to roll for the 12,000 check.
