• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Am I missing something ???? There are specific posts for RT/RS,, questions/concerns/problems, that keep showing up in spyder general discussion ? Hey Lamont perhaps you can shed some light on this. Thanks.

Easiest way to explain....Visit any CanAm site and look at the differences. Here is a link to Cowtown USA.

RS - Roadster Sport (the Can-Am version of a crotch rocket) two versions; RS and RS-S

RT - Roadster Touring (the Can-Am version of a Goldwing) Four versions; RT (basic), RT w/A&C, RT-S dressier w/more chrome and the RT-Limited (creme de la creme)

Each very similar but they each have their own problems hence the diverse topic threads.

I'm thinking SPYDERGUY1 was asking why are topics related to 'shop talk' (for example) showing up in the 'general discussion' forum. This is just a guess and I could be wrong.

Thank you to both Yol and wylie, hope I got it correct,. Have been educated on thE RS-RT, AND yes WYLIEC, you are correct....

gen·er·al [jen-er-uhl]

2. involving, relating to, or applicable to every member of a class, kind, or group
3. not limited to one class, field, product, service, etc.

Unless the name is changed to Spyder RS/GS Discussion anything related to Spyders can show up here.

Yes PRO. You are also correct , somewhat. If you follow the directions, there is a SPECIFIC FORUM related to the RS/RT, I was just posing the thought. Was curious as to all the questions posed on the GENERAL FORUM instead of the allocated forum ????

Probably because there are several thousand members and trying to get every post in the right spot would be like "herding cats"! nojoke

I surrender!!!! Sorry for asking the question.

No, it was a very valid question and food for thought. I fully understand why the site is arranged the way it is due to the introduction of the 2010 RT but it would be great if it could be rearranged to end the confusion. I for one would like to see the site arranged like this:

Spyder General Discussion: Anything related to both the RS/GS and the RT (such as events, general topics, news, people, etc.)
Spyder RS/GS: Topics specific to the RS/GS
Spyder RT: Topics specific to the RT (same as it is now)
RS/GS ShopTalk: Technical topics specific to the RS/GS (replaces current "Spyder Shoptalk" which no longer really makes sense because the RT has its own ShopTalk)
RT ShopTalk: Technical topics specific to the RT (same as it is now)

I think this arrangement would be a lot less confusing. The "Spyder General Discussion" and "Spyder Shoptalk" forums would simply segue off into their new definitions so no past posts are lost. It would take a little time but the transition hopefully shouldn't be too difficult. This is just a humble suggestion, obviously Lamont runs the show and is the master and commander.

That's an excellent break-down. But, no matter how you break it down, you're still going to have the same problem.

It's the same way when you purchase something that requires assembly. Many people don't follow directions/instructions.

it would make things a lot better...other forums do similar breakdowns..that way you only get (most of time) the info you want.

Perhaps it's not because of the way the site administrator set it up, but the way the user uses it.

Chris

PS: Because of the subject title RS/RT, should I have posted this elstwhere? <snicker>
