• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. RT rear tire

No Sale

I Discount Tire stores here in McKinney, TX and they would not sell me the tire because the needed to know what I was putting it on so they could verify fitment and the Spyder is no in their system. Seems like the legal Department doesn't want to sell tires. So where did those of you that run the Kumho, purchase your tires?

rebate

discount tires is offering a $30 rebate if you use their card...may get one just to have it at that price, but I won't tell them what it goes on? :banghead: do they have to know? I bought a michelin hydroedge from Costco about 2 years ago, so far put around 16k on it. figure it'll last another 10k but won't be near done paying for my RT so why not get a spare tire.

yes they had to know

wouldn't go on til I told them. My response was why do you care your not going to install it. I should have told them it went on 98 VW golf, but didn't think of that.

My bike shop in St Bonifacious would not mount the 215-60-15. They said it would screw up the nannies and might not have enough room for suspension travel, plus side wall was really soft. I bought the Kumho in the bikes size and said it was for a mustang gt. Out the door for under 90 bucks:thumbup:

It doesn't upset Nanny at all...
A lot of the folks that use the 215/60 size, swear that it gives more accurate speedometer readings...
Here's a link to a tire size comparison site.

You can play around with various rear tire sizes, and even compare them to the front tire sizes too!

I would consider the 215/60 rear especially if I were running 175 or 185 fronts.

a customer for life. I view this as a lack of customer service.

I got my Kumho off of EBay...

Last night I did too, strange thing it was Discount Tire Direct. On-line vs in the store, two different policies either that some people don't understand the policy.

Because of this if I can get what I want somewhere else even at a slightly higher price I won't be going back to Discount Tire.

I bought a Kuhmo 225/50/15 last week. No questions asked on what I was putting it on.

Someone on Spyderlovers mentioned that a 215/60/15 will not fit on a RS or ST because of the fender. Just something for us non RT guys to keep in mind.

 That might be true...
But this time; it was brought up in the RT section. :D

I would guess that a significant number of folks just click the "What's New" tab and don't even look at what forum the thread is in. Others don't realize their Spyder may not be the same as the one being talked about, model, year, accessories, etc and the idea talked about may not work for them. I was just trying to head off a mistake for someone. :D

That's the craziest thing I ever heard of. I would have told them that I planned to fill it up with dirt and plant potatoes in it. I bought mine at a local small town tire dealer who managed to modify and manipulate his tire machine to get it mounted on the Spyder wheel which I removed and brought to him. He didn't care what I was going to put it on.

Sorry for my post. This is what the mechanic told me as I had brought that size tire down to them. He would not install it. Again, sorry for the post.

Don't be sorry for the post. The problem is with your tech, not with you. It is unfortunate that some Spyder and tire dealers have such a narrow view, but it is their privilege. If you search around, you may find someone more willing...and less likely to hand out the BS by the shovelful.

I just got a Michelin Primacy for the rear of our RT 215-60-15. Wasn't cheap but looking for longer wear and if it brings more accuracy to the speedo that is a plus.
