• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT - MIRROR SAFETY CORD

BLUEKNIGHT911

Sadly Passed Oct 2024 - RIP
Since I DIY'ed my mirrors with magnets, I felt some sort of " FAIL-SAFE " safety cord should be put on ....just in case ...... " Merlot's " ( thank you Sir ) is fancy and you need that special wire thingy :roflblack:, that I guess they someone make for them ....... So I devised my own way of doing this ....... I bought some 300 lb fishing line ( way overkill ) .... do not cut it - use a match or lighter and melt off a 10inch length, this seals it from unravelling .....join them at the open end and make a knot so it's now one piece ..... You need to take off the right side mirror.... Put it between your legs with the glass against your right thigh, so you are looking at the inside of the mirror.... In the upper right corner above where the OEM Post holder is screwed onto the mirror is a THICK area of plastic that I drilled a 1/8 th inch hole in.....( TIP: to get the BIT to bite and not slip :banghead: put a small nail in a vise grip and heat so you can make s little mark in the plastic, otherwise the BIT will travel on the plastic :lecturef_smilie: ) When the mirror is on you can't see it. At the food market where you get your tomatoes etc. you put them in plastic bags and they give little tie wraps .... well I stripped off about 2 ins. of the paper made a tiny hook and used this to snake the fish line through .... I put the looped end through the knotted end and pulled tight to secure it to the mirror.... I loosened the very top bolt ( for a body panel ) and looped my safety line over it and tightened it ...... Now if the magnets break loose ( not very likely ) the mirror body can only move .....2 1/2 inches from where it was attached....... if you don't have magnets you might want to start with a 12 or 14 inch piece ........... I think the NYLON line they sell at the Hardware store ( used in construction for making very long straight lines ) would be fine. The mirror isn't very heavy and this safety cord doesn't allow it to move very much........ I know Pics would be much much better ......... I' see what can be done ....... Mike

mike, when i did the vents on my 13 rt, i used a really heavy duty fishing leader to hold them on the bike. as soon as the wind caught the one side i lost, the leader made no difference. it broke and i lost the side cover

How long was the leader ???? , and what was it's test weight ????.... and IF my mirror comes loose it can ONLY move 2 1/2 inches ...... It's got to be better than what BRP provides :yikes: ....... Mike
