• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT mirror backing removal

Why don't you change the reflectors on the rear side of the front fenders to LED's and have them flash with the turn signals. I have them and they are way brighter than anything you are going to put on the mirrors.

Just saying

Probably because putting them on the mirror's housing edge was way easier ..... jmho ..... Mike

Thanks for the link (I saved it my Spyder folder in my laptop), but how does the yellow lens come off to replace a bulb?

I posted earlier on this topic ..... If one tries to do a Dis- assembly ( and re-assembly ) and break it ---- it will only cost you about $250.00, ... even if you get it back together with no damage, if all the many plastic connectors arn't well seated, when you remove it by hitting from underneath - it could very well come apart. .... good luck ..... Mike

But according to the instructions Finless linked to above BRP does expect a service tech to disassemble the mirror. That needs to be done to replace the flasher LED unit, a replaceable item for only about $125!

" service tech " !!! to dis-assemble it .... Exactly .... seriously how many people here are capable of dis-assembling this part ???? , that was the point of my post. ... To me this like showing folks how to build a Nuclear reactor - what's the point ????? .................. Mike

I doesn't. The flasher light is sold as a complete unit only since it's LED. To replace a bulb you are on your own!

Thanks IMR, It's a good thing I waited for this response. How does it come off the mirror? I did get the mirrors apart enough to put in small green arrow lights in the lower corner, it's the only place with enough space for the body of the light. It's just so that I know if the turn signals are still on because the ones in the cluster are hard to see in daylight.

Thanks for that info, I save it to my laptop. But how does the actual mirror glass come off to get at those screws?

I have the MUTH mirrors and they required removing the glass. Heat gun on lowest setting, carefull prying. I didn't break either one, but I took my time.

Did you look closely at the diagram? The mirror glass is on one side of the main support, the flasher on the other side. You'll need to take at least the top cover off to get to the screws. I've never done it, just looked at the parts diagram.

I have similar to muth mirrors. I pried them off carefully with a metal ruler, and sprayed pain thinner in between it helps eat the glue. but go slow...

I might try that if the fenders have the rear lights, I just don't remember ( damn Senior Moments), the ones I just put in the mirrors aren't very bright after all that work getting them in there. I do have some strip LEDs but don't think there are any yellows. I guess reds would work ok.

Hey, not for nothing, but the turn indicator arrows on the 2020 RTL are very visible and don't need any improvement.....................:2thumbs:

I followed the instructions that Finless Bob had posted with his video (Including making a template of both pieces just in case). I put the arrows behind the glass on my 2014 RTs. Slow going and lots of work. They look great at night but are not all that visible on a sunny day. I do not plan on repeating with the 2017 RTs I have now.

I followed the same instructions. I've always said they were more for me, to notice the signal is still on, than for other drivers.
