Anyone in the Tampa/Sarasota area that has replaced the rear tire with an non stock tire. Wifes' 2014 RT-L has a flat spot and very worn with 7800 miles.
Replaced the stock rear tire on my 14 RTL with a Vee Rubber Arachnid tire. Had only 4600 miles on the stock tire, with the tread down to 3mm.
So far, after 3000 miles there is no noticeable tread wear. Many on this site recommend General tires because they are harder and less likely to wear to early.
Hope the helps you. I live in South Hillsborough county.
What, are the roads in Tampa/Sarasota "different" somehow than anywhere else in the country?
Maybe you should post this in the Florida Board?
In case you don't follow along, I see this is post #1, everybody with an RT has done a tire change, and this
is the probably the most widely talked about subject here. Good luck deciding, there are myriad choices.
At Tampa Powersports. They charge $50-100, depending on the amount of time it takes. Since you live in Sun City, you may want to call Action Jet Sports in Bradenton.
If you are interested in riding with a group of Spyders I ride with a group from Hillsborough County. Next ride is this Saturday. If interested IM me and I will give you the info.
:welcome:I am running a General Altimax RT 43 on my 2014RTS-SE6, the original rear tire was a Kenda and it had 5,284 miles. I know have 10,330 miles on my spyder. The wear occurred in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
IM= Instant Message DeannaI am new on the forum. What is IM and I am interested. Thanks
For the record; I'm running a Kumho now. I got 5,700 miles out of the OEM shoe...
Did you see the license plate of the White RT?NEKSPYDER
I hope your enjoying sunny Florida. Believe it or not I met a white RT on main street Deby Line today.
IF i did'nt have the crud I would have ridden mine. Tires for these things are a nightmare.
I had a Kumho put on my :spyder2: In September and I'm liking It a whole lot. I have a 2013 RT-S, I think It handles and feels better than the stock tire..
