• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT headlight switch "CLUNK"

When I move my headlight switch from hight to low or vice versa, I hear a distinct CLUNK from the left front. I took it in for repair and was told, "It is normal. There is a shutter moving." Folks, I didn't have any CLUNK for the first 5,500 miles -- just the last 500.

Anybody hear a CLUNK on their Spyder when moving the headlight switch?

It is normal. It has to do with the type of headlights the RT has. They are a shutter type, I believe. It has been discussed on here before. Scotty can give the exact way/description on how these work. He's posted it up a few times before.

I have always heard the shutters open/close but it was not a very loud transition. I could only hear it when then engine isn't running. Can you tell if one side is louder than the other? You may have one that is hanging up a little.

You may not of noticed it but it was there. It is normal.

:agree: My theory on why it becomes a bit louder as some Spyders age, or from Spyder to Spyder, is that the parts wear in slightly, either reducing the friction and making the shutter move a bit quicker and "snap" more sharply. Although I have noticed a change in sound over time with some Spyders, I have not heard of anyone ever having a problem as a result.

Aging

"The older I get, the better I was."
Probably one of the most imaginative statements you'll ever read or hear, if you can still hear and see.
:2thumbs:

Sure, just like our imaginations. :D

I remember when i was a kid in Brooklyn i could hit a Spaldeen 3 1/2 sewers.
And if anyone believes that, I still have that Bridge for sale.:roflblack:
I think when you get older, Imagination is one of the things that keep you going.:ohyea:

Headlight noise

This Spyder uses only 1 pair of bulbs, and merely flips a panel down (noise) to restrict the beam that reaches out further. We usually see a high and low beam due to having 2 bulbs for each headlight. Bulbs turning on and off will burn out faster.
