• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT foot boards on the cheap

I wanted footboards on my RT std as I was used to riding my 650 Burgman and could not get used to foot pegs. I didn't like the price of the BRP footboards and thought there must be a cheaper way out so I bought on Ebay from India a pair of Harley copy footboards 45$

Removed the footpeg rubbers and weights

removed rubber tops, drilled the footplates in line with the holes in the footpegs refitted rubber tops

there is a 6mm gap between the peg and the plate so I made 2 support bars from 6mmx30mm steel bar to fit under the plates
attachment.php
fitted the plates with support bars and weights to the pegs, and hey presto

Way to go. Great idea and you made it work. Funny thing about floorboards. Once you have them, you never go back.

I too am looking for floorboards and passed out when i saw the cost of the BRP ones. The inspector gadget look like my only option till i saw these. They do look like they should be turned around, was that because the holes didnt line up or something?
little unclear on the metal pieces. Do they go over the screws cause there is only one hole in each plate.

RT floorboards on the cheap

Here is a link to where I got them

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Pair-...d-Panhead-Floorboard-Footboard-/151996695894?

They will post worldwide

I removed the Harley fitting brackets as they were in the way of the stiffening plates underneath.

I fitted them the wrong way round to get them as far forward as possible and clear the brake pedal. Holes could be anywhere, I drilled them where they needed to be, also fitting the this way gave the feeling they are bigger than they really are. I carefully removed the split rivets that hold the rubbers on, drilled the holes and used pan head 6mm bolts, then put the rubbers and rivets back.

Like you say, looks like they should be the other way roundm but HEH!!!!!!!, now got 250$ to spend on other farkles:yes:

Well $950 if comparing to the BRP floorboards.
thanks for the info! i will consider those. Its either something like that or the inspector gadget ones with the heel toe shifter (i have an SM6)

:congrats: on a successful DIY project!
But before everyone decides to "Storm the Bastille" over the cost of the OEM floorboards ; let me just remind you all that BRP has built a pretty neat safety feature into them, and you'll NEVER find it on an aftermarket set...
BRP's floorboards will drop out of the way if you ever find yourself in a " :yikes: Holy :cus:!" moment, and will allow you all of the possible brake pedal movement that you could ever imagine needing!

If you think that the Safety Feature is expensive: how much would you be willing to pay for it, If you were to have to mash the pedal, and found that you needed "Just a little bit more" travel in it; in order to stop?

Because I installed my cheapo floorboards directly onto the existing foot pegs after removing the rubber tops, don't forget the foot pegs are mounted on rubber so MY floorboards also tilt forwards or rather are sprung loaded and tilt forwards to the tune of 2 inches. If your brake pedad goes down further than that the bike should not be on the road.

Also that is why I installed round side outer so that you can "Mash the pedal" as you call it, without having your foot on the board at all if need be.

I'm now going to fit the brake pedal hiway extension kit and make my own hiway boards so I'll have 2 brake pedals to choose from. Pictures to follow

If I wasn't so clever I would't need to be so good looking!!!!:)
