• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT Chrome Handlebar

So our dealer has a Customer appreciation thing every year, this year it is today and tomorrow. Today's was capped off with a tire burnout till it... well burned out to oblivion :roflblack::ohyea:

Annnnny way... While there I broke down an purchased the Chrome Handlebar.. I just went over the instructions... For those that have installed this on their own, is this something a person should do or pay the dealer to install?

The instructions look like I am taking the bike WAY farther apart than I have without an engine removal.

Any special tools needed beyond a shade-tree mechanic tool chest? Thanks for your help!

Looks like it is quite an involved process. Maybe fastfraser can enlighten you further on his adventure.

Is it possible to post a .pdf copy of the instructions? I would really like to order one of these, but before doing that I would also like to know what I am getting into so I can judge if it is within my mechanical range of ineptitude.:dontknow:

Thank you both... The link helped me decide that I will let the dealer do it.

Bottom line... Our GPS is NOT communicating with us and the mount is not charging the GPS. So something is wrong in the connection somewhere. I figure sense they are going to be knee deep in that, they will already have this all apart and I bet they will make me a deal to install it for me.

Needs a service anyway... If I accelerate hard the belt slips and goes bang bang bang 4x's... Not a good feeling... :opps:

I would have the dealer do it unless you have the patience of Job. nojoke
Thank you for your input! I am pretty easy going and love to do these kinds of things... That and I have an air horn, pegs, HID's and the Two Brothers Top Tune Kit to install... I was figuring on dismounting everything as it was, I could knock them all out at once... I will just do those next weekend and ryde this one :spyder2:

One thing I noticed when I had to re-run the wires through the Chrome handle bars was the GPS jack under the side panel right under the seat was only half inserted in the jack plug and it didn't take much to pull it out . So I used electrical tape around the connection so it does't become dislodged again .

Thank You

for posting the instructions. The handlebar installation process will have to wait until I find another good reason to tear the bike down.

Good luck on your install. I do envy those who have added this farkle to their ride.
