RT 1330 MPG ??

FWIW, I have recently purchased a 2018 F3-T, have put ~1800 miles on it and have yet to get any better than 35MPG. I travel mostly back roads, use my cruise all the time and usually am traveling 55-60MPH. I am unimpressed with the gas mileage I get; will hate to see what it does when I pull my Time Out camping trailer. And I also am short shifting most of the time between 2500-3000RPM then using the cruise to get up to my cruising speed. Like the bike, but don't see how people are getting 40MPG.

I had the same issue with my 17 RTL. Everyone kept telling me it will come good, and didn't until just short of 10,000kms. I got ribbed that I wasted my money on my 622 trailer and should have bought a semi fuel tanker.

I guess I'm not seeing the "gripe" about mpg with the Spyder. I've been getting around 35mpg average which is over twice what my 09 Ram gets average doing much the same driving. My brother has an '05 1800 'Wing and gets around the same mpg as I do. Mind you he's a pretty aggressive rider, but then on the Spyder, so am I sometimes.

At the moment, I still use the RT as my regular commuter and only drive the truck when I need to or every once in a while to keep it running. I was planning on selling it, but now I'm thinking that since the wife isn't riding any more, it's time to trade it on what I want. Just gotta find one.

You might try the following: Shift points between 3500 and 4000 are the "sweet spot" for the 1330. Mileage actually improves if the motor is not being lugged. Also, allowing cruise control to bring it back up to speed is probably another mileage eater. I use cruise control all the time. If I shift down or do something else to disengage the cruise, I let it get up to speed before I push the resume button.

We have 11K on the F3 2019, and 43K on the RT 2014.

We both get the magic 40 mpg or very close to it on every fill up. Linda does not use cruise, but keep those rpms in the 3500 + range all the time. :bowdown:

I just recently changed plugs and flushed my injectors on my 16 RTL. Before, I was only getting around 25 or less MPG with a bad running Spyder. When I first bought it I bought a PV3 Dynojet tuner with a custom tune from BLR Tuning. I switched back and forth from stock to BLR tune but it didn't seem to help. After doing the plugs and cleaning the injectors, I flashed the BLR tune back in and now I'm getting 40MPG and it runs great. Anyone with poor fuel mileage might want a custom tune from BLR Tuning, very happy.

Our 23 RT gets about 35 mpg. It’s always 2 up.
