There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. RS Windshield options

Hi all. I'm 5' 10" and I had a BRP's Sport-Touring windshield installed when I first got my 2011 RS. However, I've added 3" risers since, and now the wind is shaking me uncomfortably. Can anyone please recommend me a good windshield to deal with this?
Thanks so much :)

You should check out Madstad (now one of SL sponsors). They make a bracket which makes the windshield adjustable.

There has been a tremendous amount of discussion about this over the years. Many different windshield solutions have been tested with varying results. Some work, some don't, some are no longer available, others have evolved. You are now the lucky recipient of the sum of the knowledge the spyderlovers forum has accrued on this subject. You can search the forum for the entire history.

For the RS, the general consensus has been to go with the Madstad Windshield system. This unique system allows you to tune in the correct height windshield for you by adjusting a set of brackets which compensate for your size, if you have risers, seat height, etc. It allows you to tune the direction and amount of airflow to where you like it. You can do this with a low windshield or a high one. Madstad offers many sizes based on people's preferences and needs. In addition you can even adopt other windshields to the Madstad RoboBracket system.

Others may pipe in with their favorite windshield but be sure to take a very close look at Madstad. They are now even a site sponsor. If you have any questions post here or talk to Mark at Madstad.

Best of luck!

I put the BRP Ultra Touring version on Madstad Robobrackets and after finally getting them adjusted, no buffeting of either myself or passenger. Lots of different brands, etc., to choose from and all are good. The real issue is finding the right one for your ryde without buying 2 or 3 before you find it.

There is only one windshield I would ever put on my Spyder. That is the Ultrasport by BRP. No other company makes a shield that even comes close to the looks of this bad boy.

I find with the 1" riser block, and the ultrasport shield the wind hits the top of my helmet and goes right over. Sorry you had to find out the hard way that those risers are a bad idea for someone who wants to keep their Spyder looking sporty and not have to put a high windshield on it.

For what it's worth. I just ordered a calsci tinted shorty from custom dynamics sponsor saved 5% with coupon code & will post more when it gets here:dontknow:

+1 for Madstad. Have tried standard BRP, touring BRP, laminar lip and CHAD - Madstad was by far the best for me

No comment! Come on Randy, tell the ones that don't know, how you really feel about this subject.

No way !!! I have been good for along time now and I don't want to ruin my record. :roflblack::roflblack:

Just received my Madstad 20" Lt. grey shield today, haven't had a chance to install it yet, but I will give a report when I do, nice people to deal with and fast shipping also, thanks Mark and Patty.

I love the Robo-Brackets I got for my ultra-touring BRP Windshield.it's like riding my wife's RT with the windshield up, quite!

Got the madstad...really like it, but it is a bit of a pain to get it adjusted. I sit upright and you're gonna have to really get it higher than you might think to get the air to jet over your helmet. With that being said, the shield is nicely constructed and looks great. I'm almost done with adjusting mine (had to do a few times)....good thing is that you can fiddle with it until it's just right for you...

Thanks a lot guys for all your suggestions, they've been really helpful in my decision making process.
I saw quite a few interesting options out there:
The Vario Touring Spoiler,
The Cee Bayleys windshield,
Black-Widow's Spyder windshield and,
Custom Dynamics windshields.
After reading your posts and doing some personal research, I decided on a Madstad clear 20" windshield.
I'll post my personal experience with it once I test mine.
Cheers.

Just to add to the mix... I just ordered the Givi D770ST windshield.. this is a pic of it installed on someones. I think it retains a sporty look as well. Currenty have the BRP Sport Touring...

A Lot of times it's not the windshield doing the ''all'' the buffering,.
Some times its the helmet.

:agree: my ultra touring works great but my helmet causes a lot of wind noise. Helmets are also not a cheap item to trial and error. :dontknow:
