RS semi auto clutch problem

I have a 2010 RSS with the semi automatic. Now with 4600 miles on the odometer my clutch started slipping. I've used amsoil in the bike since it had 600 miles on it and just changed it for the 3rd time once I realized the clutch was slipping hoping it would somehow solve the problem which it hasn't. I took it to the dealer and they told me that the oil is the reason the clutch is slipping and wanted to charge me $500+ to replace it. I'm picking the bike up now and will replace the clutch myself and I guess start using their BRP oil which i'm not happy about at all. Now that i'm done ranting I actually have a question... Is there a source for oem parts at a decent price or do I have to buy the clutch from the dealer?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Do you have a bottle of the actual oil you have been using?

Check the specs--- as long as it meets or exceeds BRP specs--- then you shouldn't have a problem-- AND --- BRP cannot make you use THEIR oil.

If you can prove you used the correct oil spec and the clutch is messed up--- you should be covered under warranty still on a 2010 Spyder.

Did they happen to try putting BRP oil in and seeing if things got better? Some have used incorrect oil and had clutch slippage--- then switched back to 'correct' oil and the problem went away.

Did the dealer even look at the clutch to see why it was slipping, or did they just tell you that after you told them what oil you used. There are several things that can cause a slippage not related to oil. And after only 4600 miles even automotive oil shouldn't cause slippage. My guess, it's mechanical, not oil.

If you use the wrong spec oil in a wet clutch it can slip right after putting the wrong oil in......

Just speaking from past experience. Never had any clutch slip using automotive oil in the years of riding. Always a first time I guess.

I live by the saying "pick your battles" and this clearly is one if what you stated above is true.

This question will determine a lot...who is the dealer taking this stance?

In Australia, BRP says you MUST use their oil in an SE5 to avoid the OP's problem - cos it's 'special.'

What dealer did you go to? I was using the Mobile one 4T racing oil that all has now said it bad for our clutch I notices that my clutch was slipping right after I put it in but did not change it right away. I just replace the oil with Motul 300V 4T racing oil a few weeks ago and have not really got on it to see if there is any improvement what I have notices since I have been using the Motul that when the bike is not really hot (say 1 bar on the temp gauge) the clutch seems to grab much better than before. I am afraid to really get on it for now as the riding season is just about to start and I for one can't change this clutch and if it goes I will be out of my Spyder for the rest of the year as all the shops I know will dilly dally around and not do it for months.

If the Amsoil caused your clutch to fail, They will pay for the repairs,[amsoil]
But, And that's a big; BUT how can you prove it. I just read the Guarantee and it's a long one, :dontknow: It might be worth looking in to.
