• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Route 66 Dream Trip

OldDog

Olddog's been playin'. I've ridden on parts of old 66 where grass was growing up between the expansion joints. I'd like to do it again on a Spyder.

On another note, I just made the ST my background picture on my Desktop.

I been wanting to do the same trip in my jeep, but I really like to do it when I get the spyder. Seem like all my plans for the jeep never able to pull off always too busy, but when I get the spyder I will make it happen!

1st time I ventured on old rt 66 was 1976 . ended up in petaluma CA... skirted the coast.. to yuma AZ and back to KY..

hope you make your trip again get your kicks on route 66

Standin on a corner ....

I stood on a corner in Winslow Az once.

I rode through Winslow & stood on the corner just a few weeks ago. They have a nice little memorial area, with a bronze statue of (Jackson Browne?) with a guitar, and a flat-bed Ford parked by the curb.

I rode RT66 twice on my Goldwing. The last time this past June.We did the entire RT66 from Chicago to L.A with The RT66 Rally www.ridert66.com .This takes place every year the 2 nd Saturday of June and takes 9days.This year there were 86 motorcycles of all makes and included 4 trikes.
It is not expensive to participate but the riding days are 12 hours approx which includes lots of interesting stops and lunch each day.George Higgins who runs and leads the rally has an intimate knowledge of the route and where to ride where to stop etc.Its a great way to ride66.I purchased my RT in July.Would love to have done it on the Spyder.

Your URL for the rally is not going through. Would www.ridert66.com be the same event? I would love to do this but I'm closer to the end than the beginning. The farthest east on 66 I've been is Cuba.

Oatman Arizona Burros

Here's some pictures of Oatman Arizona. Burros roam freely here. They are descendants of miner's burros. Route 66 goes right through it. Its a step back in time. We were there in 2009.

Should be one of the Eagles, as it was their song.. Take it Easy.... "I was standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona, I'm such a fine sight to see..."

Apologies you are correct www.ridert66.com is correct. You can start or end wherever you wish. Many riders came from California and rode the Rally home.
I must say that it was great fun and met lots of nice people on the rally.

Documentary On Rt. 66

I recently found Billy Connolly's documentary on Rt. 66. He starts -- on a trike -- in Chicago. He's hilarious and visits some places I hadn't heard of. He actually visits the "Worlds Largest Rocking Chair" (which is just down the road from Cowtown) and goes turkey hunting outside of Cuba. There are other films on the Mother Road but none so entertaining as this one. It's available from Netflix.

Desert Spyder recently posted on this on his Facebook page, and I have to admit it has my interest. Of course being about 75 miles from the end (CA) side of RT66 it will be one nice ride to the start, and back. I think 2014 might be the year for me.

Just finished watching the Billy Connelly 66 documentary and found it very entertaining. The bottle man is just down the road from my house. If Spyderfest is in Cuba next year, I might come a couple days early and go to Chicago and take 66 off my bucket list, otherwise I'll be joining BlueStar in '14. There's room for more Spyders folks!
