• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

risers?

The reverse cable is the hardest part of the whole job. You can get the other side to just slip off by just loosening the screws, slide the assembly down, cut the bar, slide the old bar out and new bar in. But on the side with the reverse cable, you have to get the cable through the hole in the risers, so one end or the other has to be disconnected. I struggled with the reassembly, in fact, I ended up shearing off the plastic tab that aligns into the slot on the new bars. So be careful and take your time. Also make sure the lip on the end of the cable is inside the assmebly before you tighten it all up. Road Dog was looking at my risers last weekend and noticed I assembled it with the lip outside, so now i have to unassemble and redo it. :banghead:

Hang in there, the end result is worth it. The risers make a lot of difference.

Okay, risers are on, Evan, Patti, and just about everybody else at NMN got in on the job by phone, great people to do business with, hope to meet them soon.
Now on to finding places for relays, fuse blocks, outlets and all the other bits and pieces that have been waiting to go on. Thanks again.

Are we having fun yet? LOL

It's been just a little cold to be comfortable for any distance stuff, so if skinned knuckles and lying on a creeper is your kind of fun, I'm having a ball. Hope it's all back together before our next heat wave, I've got a serious mileage itch to scratch.

Things worked out great!!!!!!!

The boys put my 4 in. risers on and not a cus or swear word out of either of them. They went on just like the instructions say. They were looking for more like they might have missed something. Must have made the instructions for us 10 year olds easy to under stand.
NMN :2thumbs: Santa was good to me, first they bought them for me then they installed them, can't beat that.

I finally got them installed. I want to thank everyone on SpyderLovers for their advice. I printed out everything that was mentioned and finally called Lamonster. After I talked with him, I had it together in less than an hour. Good thing I did talk with him to. The "slot: situation was a mystery to me until he explained where and what it was for. I guess I lucked out on the throttle side, because after I finished, I took it for a ride and everything works just fine. I can't believe the difference in steering; day and night difference. I left the left side panels off for now to see if I can find a way to get a little bit more length in the wiring. Other than that its great, but if I had this to do over again: To the shop it would go.:2thumbs:

Glad to help and glad you got it. It was that "even girls could do it" that put you over the edge right? :D

WOW!

Well, today I finally got everything buttoned back up, the tupperware back on, and the grandkids toys out of the way. These risers make an amazing difference in the way my Spyder rydes, drives, whatever you want to call it. It steers easier, sits more comfortable, makes me wish I'd done this months ago. Thanks, Magic Man, I see some long, long rydes coming.

Finally found the way to install mods. Have a friend who knows what he is doing install them. Attached pictures of 4" NMM risers and Xoprodox Web Grips, with Tony;s passenger extensions and ISC brake extensions.

1 in risers

K boys and girls, I just ordered the 1 inch risers,, now about the installation piece, How difficult is it going to be to install this add on? Do this install at the neck of the steering head?? What I am asking is I beleive all I should have to do is take the current handle bars off--install the riser and then bolt back on the handle bars? Am I close? As for the throttle, wireing, cables I'm thinking they should be able to stay all intact and installed on the handle bars>> Charm in as needed please... Also, I ordered the Adjustable Highway footrest kit as well,,,(spydersnest)and the windshield(spydernest),, as for the Footrest, how hard is the installation on this add on?? I hope there is no extra drilling anyway, I'm thinking pretty much just a bolt on deal,, again, charm in as needed I am looking for a easy way to do both item's, I'm thinking I can handle the windshield installation, lets hope so anyway, ha ha.. Thanks in advance.

If you are talking about the BRP riser, it is a bit trickier than that. Requires a puller, rags around the steering so you don't loose the bolts, and just the right combination of tools to work upside down in that little space. Also a torque wrench and the correct torque values. Some studs were broken because of an error in the BRP instructions. Oh yeah, don't forget to bring along a few cuss words. Other than that, it is straightforward, however.

A friend of mine replaced the hex heads in the handlebar cover with socket heads, less chance of losing one.

I'm taking the plunge with the 3" black anodized (I have the BRP 1" at delivery and have the takeoffs to prove it?!) on a 2009 Full Moon SM5.

Ordering online now.

"So easy a caveman can do it..."

I'm not a caveman, so we'll see, but they WILL go on. :dontknow:

How can I tell if I have the 1" BRP riser? What does it look like?
SpyderJim,
Don't be so worried, here is a repeat of my answer from the General Forum discussion.
Jim,
I put the risers on by myself and it took less than an hour. After having done it, I could do it in even less time than that now. It is fairly easy. The hardest part is if you need to go down into the spyder and cut off some ties to get some of your extra length in cables. Remember to get 3 inch risers if you already have the 1' BRP riser (that's what I did) If you don't have the BRP you can get the 4" if you need too. My favorite thing about the risers is that I could adjust them specifically to my preferences as far as how far back or forward I wanted them tilted. I absolutely love these and they are by far my best mod I would say.
