There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Right side heat

I decided to try a little experiment with the heat that comes off the right side when I have my feet on the highway pegs. I can deal with it most of the time and in cold weather it's kind of nice but now that we are seeing 80 plus around here it's a little too hot sometimes so here's what I did.

First I cut a piece of cardboard to test fit my air dam. After I had that where I liked it I needed to find something to put in there. I couldn't find anything in the shop but I did find something that worked great. :D

Hope my wife doesn't need to make any cookies soon. :roflblack:

The temp when the fan came on was 86 degrees. It's hard to tell from this pic

It got up to 106 degrees max

The heat below the air dam was 124 so that's a little better. I do have my bottom splash pan off so that give the heat another place to go. I'll run with this for a while and see how it acts. If I don't like it it's just one screw to remove it so I'm not out anything other than a cookie sheet. :D

By the way I added some industrial strength velcro to the top of my side panels and I can tell you these things are never going to fly off going down the road.

I been thinking of going with the dzus fasteners but drilling holes in those panels is scary. I am sure going to take a look at the velcro approach!

Regarding Velcro on Top Panel

Hi Lamont,

Can you take a photo away from the bike to better show where and to help persons like me make sure I know how, when and where?

Here is something I got from Monteg54

I just want to know where the other 25% of the chocolate chip cookies end up? :dontknow:

Hey Lamont, very interested to find out the engine temp when things really heat up. Please keep us posted. Thanks.

Wondering the same thing, did you redirect the hot air down with a cut out duct through the bottom air pan or ???:dontknow:

Like I said in the first post I have the splash pan off to give the heat another place to go and that seems to be working just fine. I took about a 150 mile ride yesterday and part of it was in stop and go traffic and the fan came on and went off as it did before. On the highway and in the twisties I saw no change in temps other than now I can have my feet on my highway pegs with no heat issues. So far I am very happy with my results.

Heat

Well how does your wifes cookie sheet work for the heat on that right side? are you still bakeing cookies on that side or is it working out?:dontknow:

Now you have the roadster not the dresser right?

Another idea

Lamont, after I lost one $350 side panel I needed to find a way to not be losing another. I just took a piece of ceiling tile hanger wire about a foot long and wired it to the frame and the other end to the inside of the chrome CanAm emblem. This way if it does ever fall off, it won't hit the ground.Works well after 5k miles for me.

SPYDERPOPS DOES IT AGAIN!
Eliminate the hot foot issues with your RT.
If you want to rest your foot on your new highway
pegs and find it very uncomfortable due to the heat
coming from the radiator the solution is here. We
installed dozens of the block off plates at Spyderfest
with great results. This is the idea that Lamonster wrote up
not long ago on the forum.
Beat the Heat today at www.spyderpops.com

Pops, you installed this on my RT during SpyderFest and I can give you an enthusiastic endorsement.... mine really makes a huge difference in the heat on my right leg.
I'll probably take it off in the winter because I like that heat on my bad knee when its cold.
Sure hope that belt guard I got from you works just as well!
Hope to see you at Maggie Valley.
Jack
