Riding skyway today and broke linkage....

Just completed the cherohola skyway and was on the last few turns and the swaybar linkage broke. I have however come up with a bulletproof solution. I will post it as soon as I get some internet going at the cabin. It will solve all the broken swaybar issues.

Ill go ahead and tell yall what to buy to permanently fix. Get two 5/16 fine thread tie rod ends and a grade 8 bolt with enough thread to cut off and join the two tie rods together Now butt them together and it will be the exact length as the plastic junk that comes on the spyder....

BajaRon was running a survey on this subject looking for those that have had this exact thing happen. Wants to see if there would be a market for pretty much what you made up. Looks like you have found a good solution and very simple to DIY..thanks for doing all the leg work and sharing. I'm sure you have helped a lot of folks who will benefit from this...!! :thumbup::thumbup:

While a breakage is bad, i think that a stronger part may bend the upper frame attachment point. I am not an engineer so i will wait and see what folks post.

They could have intended that the swaybar end link function as a shear-pin in a Hay baler does...

Been looking at doing the same thing except with a male threaded Heim joint and a threaded coupler. Haven't had a problem yet but this way or your way is the way to go. :doorag:

I considered that, but I worry about the strength of the threaded coupler. Using female rod ends and a threaded rod mad from a Grade 8 bolt would be stronger. The ideal solution would be a piece of chrome moly tubing with weld-in threaded ends. JMHO

THIS ENGINEERING SCHOOL !!!!!

Doubt the frame would bend, but can't say the mounts won't pull lose. That some engineer at BRP would believe this plastic junk would hold makes me wonder what engineering school he or she attended and just where in the bottom of the graduating class was his or her standing?

The same school that taught the Engineer who put the rear air valve on the SPROKET side of the rear wheel ...:gaah: :roflblack:...easy enough to fix though....Mike

What year Spyder do you have? Looks different than mine. I am definitely thinking this maybe the way to go as I am sometime a very aggressive rider and don't need plastic determining my destiny. :clap:

I am so far back in the woods that dial up internet wont connect. I finally ran this MYFI so far up a pole that I can post this.


I am running BajaRons prototype ST bar. Let me say it makes a huge difference. If I had to weld plates under the A arm to make it stronger I would just to run this bar.

I can tell you that you can literally BAWL the tires around a turn with his new bar. At least until the plastic crap breaks. I don't believe anyone will have any trouble changing to a all metal joint. I will test it all week till Sunday here at Deals Gap.

Now that I have internet ill post daily.....
